It's not as bad as I made it sound.

FunctionalTest is a *testcase*. It provides extra functionality for interacting with the GUI in a 'functional' way.

All our functional tests are sublasses of 'FunctionalTest'.

FunctionalTestTest tests the functionality that FunctionalTest provides. It does this by instantiating testcases - so it is testing tests...
