Or you could use FePy, which aims at fixing some bugs in IronPython the maintainers ignore and including the standard library into the distribution. From what I hear, IronPython has some issues with completely rejected outside contribution, and that includes the standard python.

It is true that the IronPython team can't take outside contributions because of licensing issues. Do you have any examples of 'some bugs ... the maintainers ignore'?
I am aware of some encoding issues that one developer would like fixed quicker, but as far as I'm aware the IronPython team have been very good at fixing bugs marked as high priority.
