Only 512MB? You lucky thing Mine regularly climbs to 600MB.. well, at least those 2GB of RAM are being put to good use...

Allegedly, this huge usage has something to do with the page history it keeps (for quick back/forward browsing it caches the render tree of chronologically near pages). You can reduce the amount it allocates to this in about:config, somewhere..
