Calcutta is called the City of Joy because there's a book of that name. the book took its name from a slum in Calcutta called Ananda Nagar, which is, literally, Abode of Peace, rather than Abode of Joy. The theme of the book is, out of human misery, sometimes emerges joy.

During the process of liquidation the Banco Central of Barbados(BCB)has to ask U.S. federal authorities for a detailed revision of accounts and transactions through Hemisphere Bank.
Cleviston L.Haynes director of bank supervision for the BCB explained that within a period of 30 days they must ask for anulment of BIB's license and after that designate a costodian who will determine how to liquidate the 'activos' of the institution to pay creditors and investors.
The bank supervisor also made clear that in Barbados there was no insurance that covered losses of a liquidated bank and so investors depend on 'activos' to recover losses.

Manjeet -- Yes I know the book well, and Lapierre is one of my favorite authors. I think the city fathers of Kolkata were not using "City of Joy" in the same ironic spirit as Lapierre.
If you do a google search in english or spanish of 'bancafe bawag' you will note I'm about the only one to have broached the subject in either language.I'm not saying my spanish is great but someone should do it.
What's funny is a spanish google search of 'bancafe bawag byrne'.You will not only find a few of my posts mentioning 'bancafe bawag patrick byrne', none in a very postive light.So the American fraud and con artist Patrick Byrne is even given carte blanche by Chris WMDS Cox in Spanish and other languge to lie and defraud as many as possible around the world !
As I tried to emphasizein my spanish writing Bancafe probably collapsed from penny stocks issued in the USA thanks to Chris Cox and his SEC !No Guatemala media has mentioned Bawag so far in relation to Bancafe.
