Bellevue is actually in western Washington, not eastern, it's a suburb of Seattle. It's not exactly a "little town" either, but the fifth largest city in Washington and growing rapidly.
One of the perps, John Worthen, who was also indicted by Jeff has a history of securities fraud charges going back to the early 1970's.

There is much history to this story, only the most recent scams were reported in the press.
Might also want to do a follow-up on the use of lawyers by the perps to attempt legitimacy to their scams.
On June 29, 2006 a search warrant was executed against Roger Greer, owner and operater of National Stock Transfer in Salt Lake City, Utah, in regards to a securities fraud investigation involving Beverlee Kamerling. Greer had a long established business relationship with Kamerling and reportedly received most of his new business from her.
In the course of the investigation, Greer was caught with child pornography and has since been sentenced to 33 months in federal prison.
It is my understanding that Greer was indeed involved in securities fraud with Kamerling, but I don't know if it was in connection to the scam described above or yet another.
Does anyone know anything about fraudulent activity involving Beverlee Kamerling and Roger Greer/National Stock Transfer?
I found/read indictment and initial FBI interview with Greer regarding his role in aiding Kamerling. Doesn't sound good for Greer or his sister and sole employee, Kay Galster.

Please keep on top of this one. Kamerling's transfer agent (Roger Greer) is currently serving a 33 month sentence for possession of child pornography at Seatac Federal Corrections Institution. His sister, Kay Galster, is currently listed as owner and operator of National Stock Transfer, in Greer's absence.
As reported in "The Face of Child Porn", Salt Lake City Weekly, April 24, 2008, Greer intends to resume operation and control of National Stock Transfer after the completion of his sentence.
National Stock Transfer has previously been mired in criminal conduct; not the least of which, includes close business associtaions with Beverlee Kamerling. According to Greer's own addmissions to FBI agents on June 29, 2006, Kamerling supplied approximately 50% of NST's business.
Why is National Stock Transfer continuing to operate as a legitimate agency? If anyone is interested in researching the facts, NST was involved in criminal behavior with Beverlee Kamerling, as early as 1995 (see SEC v. U.S. Fire Technology.)
Those involved in one form of criminal activity, oftentime have no qualms regarding involvement in other forms of criminal activity. Greer is an excellent example of this phenomenon.
Please assist in connecting the dots. Please assist in holding the perpetrators accountable.
