Gravatar If Henry's version in the Observer is correct, then there will be trouble.

Gravatar Oh dear - I hate to break the news Chris BUT....continued on ATW...

Gravatar The vast conspiracy against the unionist people comtinues. The De Chastelain et al can't be trusted nor the two governments, or indeed the Presbyterian minister or the Catholic priest.
It is preferable to wallow in imagined conspiracies. But hey there's always the Colombian 3 or Castlereagh or some other whinge fest for the bigots to hang there hat onto.

Thankfully Hain seems to be adopting a different attitude to those who had previously indulged this wailing.

Gravatar His own Government didn't think highly of de Chastelaine ...so why should we ?

Gravatar Nationalist rampage in Belfast last night, strange silence follows....

Gravatar MR

Do you seriously expect either myself or Chris to be constantly sitting on a computer reafdy to post condemnations of either single act at your whim. I condemn all rioting from whichever side.

Gravatar Paddy - just pointing out that critical posts appear on Balrog milliseconds after anything that reflects badly on people from my side of the fence ... not necessarily from Chris or YGS.

As your party constantly remind us , equality is important !

Gravatar Madradin Raud must be Davros, did I get it

Gravatar Yes Trinity

Gravatar Oh dear - I hate to break the news Chris BUT....continued on ATW...

David, I didn't see anything continued on ATW

MR

Pedant

Gravatar Pedant

You bet Chris

Gravatar cool, good to hear the old sausage is still sizzling.
Chris, I'm tempting myself into getting a blog set up. I mean there's you in Belfast, united irelander in Dublin.. and I'd like to offer an Anglo-Irish perspective from Brighton.
Being in exile, as it were I'm your undercover mole
Tony's in town this week. The only sad joke I can come up with is getting near to him and shouting:
" Does my bomb look big in this"..
Will you tell us about the day's events in Dublin yesterday, I'd love to hear more. Regards.

Gravatar "Now it's time to see will Unionism grasp the nettle or will they continue to inhabit their sectarian quagmire of NEVER, NEVER, NEVER!!"

I don't think they will, but its going to backfire as they have little friends anywhere already !

Gravatar Trinity - by the sound of it 5,000 people turned up, a lot bussed in from the North - Southerners just aren't that interested in Gerry's Unification project - and Ogra SF made fools of themselves running about in uniforms and carrying replica guns.

Gravatar Trinity

You should of course set up a blog, you will not know yourself afterwards and it isn't very hard.

I mean there's you in Belfast, united irelander in Dublin.. and I'd like to offer an Anglo-Irish perspective from Brighton.

I am more of a South Armagh blog but since I will be living in Belfast 5 days of the week from today I suppose there is no escaping my future

" Does my bomb look big in this"..

Trinity, out of interest

Are you a man or a woman?

Will you tell us about the day's events in Dublin yesterday, I'd love to hear more

Let's see

We started off from Parnell square, each area organised in their own sections.

Our section had a few themes

The ex POW's led off our parade followed by some of the old anti-internment and H block banners. Then the theme I worked on was next, "South Armagh, A history of struggle"

We used mostly the youth in this section

We stared off with Cú Chulainn, Then the United Irishmen, Then Collins and members of the 4th Northern Division with 303's and a mouser handgun. Then we had a tribute to the modern era volunteers and then Conors election posters.

Then we had our Demill float, followed by Cumann banners.

Each area was something like this

Mayo did the land issue up to modern day, Belfast the hunger strikes, Dublin 1916 etc

We had the march and then we had a shin dig at the GPO

It was fantastic

Gravatar "Trinity - by the sound of it 5,000 people turned up"

Untrue, at least 15-20 thousand

a lot bussed in from the North

As many from the south as from the North.

Gravatar Was it true about OSF Chris?

considering it was being held in Dublin and even if 50% of those attending were from the ROI, it certainly shows that Southerners are disinterested in the Unification project

Gravatar Was it true about OSF Chris?

I think Ogra was involved in 1916 so yes

What is the problem?

I had old guns used in my theme

Gravatar Thanks Chris I wish I was there.. have a few loose ends to tie up here and then I'm coming home to get involved.. even bought the laptop ready
Good advice re forgetting yourself by getting a blog site together. I'm on planet spirit-level most of the time anyway so I'm sure I'll cope

Did you ever see the fast show:
"Does my bum look big in this"
That was the allusion.

I'll trade you the gender question for your age? Just curiosity.

Madradin hang on t'yer hat. I've got you down as my first convert to the cause, if you can be convinced Ulster will fall

Gravatar Anonymous was me

I'll trade you the gender question for your age? Just curiosity.

I am 20

Gravatar Wearing uniforms and carrying replica guns is surely an offence ? I thought SF these days believed in observing laws and working to change those they don't like ?

God almighty - I can imagine the screams from certain posters here if Unionists did anything similar like Parade with replica guns

Gravatar I am 20

A child of the Anglo-Irish Agreement

Gravatar 20, well i'm impressed chris at your grasp of politics. It exceeds mine. and I don't mean that in a patronising way.
Final year at uni?
I'm a bloke, well last time I checked anyway.
Madradin,
The replicas are pageantry and symbolic, at least its honest, whereas the Orange Order pretend not to be supported by foot-soldiers.
Who is more slippery?

Gravatar Is it or is it not an offence to wear a para-military uniform and/or carry a replica gun ?

We haven't made any progress- republicans still have an a la carte attitude towards laws.

Ironic discussion considering the blog title and considering Republicans are trying to get brownie points for taking guns out of Irish politics ... never mind the fact that them claiming credit for deomissioning weapons that had no right to have let alone use in the first place is as sick as a rapist expecting women to thank him when he has finished ....

Gravatar Wearing uniforms and carrying replica guns is surely an offence ?

There was Gardaí marching beside us all the time and they didn't say anything, It is an historical re-enactment MR

I can't see the problem myself

Final year at uni?

Yup

Gravatar Is it or is it not an offence to wear a para-military uniform and/or carry a replica gun ?

No body was wearing para-military uniforms, they were wearing ICA uniforms

weapons that had no right to have

Says who?

MR I understand it is a difficult time to be a Unionist but catch a grip

Gravatar There was Gardaí marching beside us all the time and they didn't say anything, It is an historical re-enactment MR

That is a neat evasion

Says who?

The laws of the ROI and the UK - laws you agreed to when your party finished metamorphosing into Cumann na nGaedheal

Gravatar "laws you agreed to"

I agreed to nothing

Gravatar Well, it's siesta time for me - I dare say you have a final to watch

Catch you later!

Gravatar oh that was a splendid lunch at my local.
Well its going to be an interesting 9 months ahead. There's you chris finishing in law, madradin already a high court judge and a stickler for the law; and here we have a process underway which must address all these concerns.
All I wish to add is that facts presented in court are argued one way or the other depending on whether or not you're on the prosecution side or the defence.
Anyone who wants to talk about the law must have seen the film "12 Angry Men" with henry fonda.
Maradin I presume you're well acqainted with that delightful movie
Shall pop back to your site frequently chris, good luck with your degree; now I must get my blog site up and running.
Congrats to Down.

Gravatar well its up and running:
http://free-ireland.blogspot.com/
and I've gotta go see my zen master for another mind-bending session, so blogging will be slow.
Adios amigos

Gravatar Hello -

I'm doing a research project on the troubles and I have had quite a bit of anecdotal information indicating that the RUC/Brits succeeded in intercepting major bombing attempts by extracting info from provo/loyalist suspects in custody who knew about the bomb's whereabouts - sometimes with only hours to spare. Civilians were cleared from these areas prior to these explosions.

If you know of 2 to 3 such incidents, would you be good enough to tell me where they happened and a rough date, so that I can cross-reference on Google and obtain more in-depth info.

Thanks very much!

Gravatar Decomissioning has taken place, according to RTE.

Thats that sorted.

Now, about the unionist terrorist weapons...

Gravatar I wonder how many RSF supporters dandered over to Parnell in the end..

Gravatar Most amusing tra g ...

Gravatar An interesting thread on A Tangled Web just now, interesting mainly because of the poor quality of debate there which I pointed out.

Anyway, after my response that you can read there I was banned once again from the site.

I found out because I tried to post this ...

All "criminal empires" in Ulster should be toppled in my opinion. So let's start with the biggest, the ones which used Ulster Resistence weapons to kill 5 people so far this year.

Unless you and the DUP are fair and equal in their condemnations then you and they will have no credibility.

DV. Once again, you condemn and ban me for expressing an opposing view to yours. Fair enough it's your blog. What's clear is that you don't condemn those who express racist and sectarian views, your silence suggests tacit agreement, and you have the audacity to accuse me of infestation !

Just thought I'd tell you ! I'll get my coat.

Gravatar Daithi O - out of interest - is there any evidence, beyond urban canine knowledge disseminated in organs like DI and AP/RN, linking the weapons used to
Ulster Resistance?

Gravatar Incidentally - found this.

NI urged to support gaelic team

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/north...and/ 4276764.stm

Gravatar MR Ok you got me there, I was ahead of myself and I humbly apologise. I meant "guns of Ulster Resistence" to be a euphemism for the weapons of loyalist terrorists.

As stated by others, it is only those guns that are killing people but the DUP are only concerned with the guns formerly owned by republicans that haven't recently killed.

Gravatar I'm a pedant Daithi - appreciate the clarification. Cheers .

Gravatar "I'm a pedant Daithi ..."

And a stater of the obvious ;0
