Gravatar Take your time by all means, to get it right. It really saddens me to read this:

PSNI officers attacked in Belfast arrest

Anyone who has the best interests of this community at heart,
would want to see them protected.
Who is orchestrating these attacks?
Where are the leaders?
Why are SF not involoved telling these
street-urchins to STOP IT?
Practical needs demand urgent responses.

Gravatar Yes, take your time, but get it right. There may be things about the PSNI that Republicans don't like right now, so get in there and change them. It's no longer acceptable for Sinn Féin to sit on the sidelines saying "poor us". All parties with an aspiration to govern need to play their part in shaping a police force whose methods and policies meet with broad acceptance.

Gravatar I agree John however the current structures will not allow us to "get in there and change them"

We need to get the structures in place to make that possible.

Gravatar Ha ha ha, the DUP took you boys for one Hell of a ride. I look forward to a republican split on the issue with interest!

Gravatar "Ha ha ha, the DUP took you boys for one Hell of a ride."

Or, to put it another way, the DUP pretended to reach an agreement in St Andrews for the cameras only to create yet another ridiculous excuse to hold up the process on their return.

I look forward to the DUP being shown up for the bigoted twats they are....again.

Gravatar Chris, I don't think there's a snowball's chance in hell of the proposals in their current form being accepted.

Gravatar So how did the exec meetng go? There has been little about it on the news

Gravatar Neither do I Wednesday, from what I have been told since I came back they won't even attempt to.

Gravatar ok I won't put a big bet on it then, well maybe just a few coppers

I'll get me coat ;0

Gravatar Any word on Wednesday nighr's meeting in Gulladuff?

I hear it didn't go too well

1970 SSRUC
2007 SFRUC

Gravatar I've observed that SF resentment of joining the Police, is as bitter as ATW die-hards sharing power.
Therefore game on.
Personally am taking dancing lessons in advance of what will be a deal, as there's no place else to go.
This is one ball I'm not missing.
Good luck fellas

Gravatar "She said, 'Look out, daddy, don't want you to tear your pants You could get wrecked in this dance.'" - Dylan

Parcifal, are the dance clubs crap around Brighton, then?

Gravatar lol Dubliner,
No they're great, world-class clubs, people come from all over.
There's dozens along the sea-front, receding back into the cliff/earth, like long baked-bean cans.
Noise well contained.
architecturally unique.

They're Ecstasy swilling sweat pits.
can't be arsed anymore, as I like to talk and laugh when I get pissed and take whatever. Play chess too

No, I'm talking old fashioned ball room stuff, where the two partners train, and train very hard.
Supringly when I saw a bit on TV it was terrific to watch, the accuracy, finesse, agility, nimbleness, timing..

That's whats needed in Ulster.

So first up we'll have GAdams with Aileen Paisley competing with Ian Paisley and GAdams' missus.
It'd be great, and the public can vote like in X-factor.

Gravatar If the Ard Chomhairle were to call a special Ard Fheis they would be acting unconstitutionally. The conditions set down in motion 395 (below) have not been met. Until they have been met or 395 altered the Ard Chomhairle cannot call the Ard Fheis to meet on this issue.

Six County Policing
395. This Ard Fheis calls for the creation of the new beginning to policing, in accordance with
the principles of the Good Friday Agreement. A key requirement in this is democratic accountability. In the Six Counties, this requires the transfer of powers on policing and justice away from London and out of the hands of British securocrats to restored, democratically elected institutions in Ireland. The Sinn Fein President will propose to the Sinn Fein Ard Chomhairle that it calls a special Ard Fheis to decide Sinn Fein’s position on new policing arrangements in the context
of:
• Agreement between the parties on the departmental model and powers to be transferred;
• The enactment by the British government of the legislation to give full expression to this transfer of powers on policing and justice away from London;
• A DUP commitment to an acceptable timeframe for the transfer of powers on policing and justice.
• A position paper would go to all levels of the party for discussion to inform a comprehensive debate leading up to the special Ard Fheis.
Ard Chomhairle

The DUP have been explicit on policing. They have not agreed a timeframe.

Gravatar Sceptic

That is what I have been told as well. The Ard Chomhairle will not even be discussing policing until the required conditions are met.

Gravatar Hope the issue can be sorted.
Is Balrog able to post any details of the kind of conversations taking place?

Gravatar Yes Chris, I too am leaning towards rejection of this latest deal on the grounds that it does not allow enough leverage for the establishment of an accountable, democratic and wholly impartial police service(Note:not police force!!!) But what we republicans must remember is that the only two parties that have actually agreed anything yet is the two govts!!! I have full faith in the leadership of the movement to deliver on its republican principles and objectives, and have not and will not be cajoled or decieved by the vitriolic lies spleened by the media the Richard O Rawes, the Martin Cunninghams, the Anthony Mc Intyres. This leadership led us through the war (not like the afore mentioned abominations!) they wont want to see it all lost now.

Gravatar Is Balrog able to post any details of the kind of conversations taking place?

Sorry , Balrog will not be posting anything like that.

Adelante

Agreed

Gravatar Adelante: re the leadership, very well put, I agree with you completely.

Gravatar I don't see how you will get "an accountable, democratic and wholly impartial police service" when you have MI5 in the mix, but good luck with that.

Gravatar This leadership led us through the war (not like the afore mentioned abominations!) they wont want to see it all lost now

What would they be losing?
What have they won?

Adams knew!!!

Gravatar Ths should be the death of St Andrews as far as I'm concerned. Devolution of Justice Powers is the key issue, the rest is fluff:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/north...and/ 6101270.stm

Don't stick vital issues in the hands of your opponents.

It doesn't make sense anyway - if the DUP doesn't want SF to have Justice it can more or less guarentee it everytime.
