I'm not familiar with the details of the first incident but my insticnt is to totally agree with you, the Catholic church and (sickeningly) Alex Salmond. Blessing yourselves just seems to be something religious folk do.
But defending the deliberate provocation (there's no way to argue ignorance given what happened previously) is pathetic. I know a lot of Rangers (and Celtic) fans are scumbags, but that's no reason to stoop to their level.

the song accompanying the video is pathetic... this kind of grotesque hiberno-ethno-nationalist crap is unfortunately getting more and more common.. there are even signs in derry now saying "kill all huns", written over all things, a tricolour. this utter debasement of irish nationalism and republicanism is deplorable... and a lot of it has to do with the "culture" surrounding celtic. its got sweet fa to do with irish republicaniam....

"and a lot of it has to do with the "culture" surrounding celtic"
Hang on a sec, Dub. What culture is that? You're not tarring all Celtic fans with the same brush are you?
Compare the tattooed uber-"nationalist" thugs who wear the Celtic jersey walking down the street (but probably don't even know when they are playing) v the repsectable working and professional people I know (friends and family) who travel over to see them often.
Only one group are actual Celtic fans.
Personally, I think Artur was a bit childish doing this at an Old Firm match. However, I previously thought his t-shirt referred to the current Pope (which would be random) as opposed to JPII who is pretty much a national hero in Poland - it makes it slightly more understandable.

With Boruc being from Poland i understand him wearing the t-shirt. But at a rangers game! I have to admit i think he was getting a dig at them
I heard strachan said something along the lines of "I would understand them complaining if it was a t-shirt with Myra Hindleys face on it"
Sure what about the Rangers keeper in 97 wearing a black armband when LVF King Rat died.

Interesting how solicitors differ on what constitutes incitement to hatred, isn't it?

"Under the Northern Ireland Civil Service Internet and E-Mail Usage policy, set out in the NICS Staff Handbook, Northern Ireland civil servants are permitted to use official computer facilities for personal use," the spokesman said.
"Use of official facilities by staff for personal use is restricted to an individual's own time during non-working hours at lunch or before and after work.

Anyone who chooses to be offended by someone else's religious beliefs is suggesting there is something inherently shameful or offensive about said persons religion.
Hence they are a bollox and deserve to have it slapped up them.
I heard Gregory Campbell say it was tantamount to the Rangers goalie wearing a T shirt with Knox's picture on it!!!
Most Celtic fans wouldn't have a clue who he was.
Most Rangers fans wouldn't either.

Good point. Didn't expect you to know about JP1 and Wisla Krakow. You obviously have hidden depths I have yet to discover!
I think Artur had every right to wear the T-shirt. He is a proud Catholic. JP1 is held in very high esteem in Poland. However as an avid Hoops fan I am only too well aware of Arturs antics, and I have a sneaking suspicion he may have been trying to wind up the Teddy Bear Hums with this one. Do I have a problem with this? Absolutely fucking not!!!!!!!!

Apologies for the oversight. Yeah and fairness while they did not play great football they soaked up the pressure and won on penaltie, a habit of theirs lately. This is typical of the type of football they have played this season under Wally Smith. Hope they lose the final, and due to the mounting injury list and suspensions the SPL as well. Funny how the SFA granted an extension to the Teddy Bears yet wouldn't even give Celtic a later kick off time when they reached the final in Seville!

Aye, strange one that. I'm not one of the Celtic conspiracy-theorists but it is a striking contrast.
Rangers play terrible football but I do have a grudging admiration. They are clearly a very limited team so they are playing to their strengths.

I find your threat above quite astounding Chris. You've shared details with others, including the IP address of posts that someone (who may or not be me)appear to have made?
Who might these people be? Given that we have recently argued about the facts surrounding a murder occurring near you, might you not be threatening me and implicitly anyomne who posts on your site?
Should I interpret what you've written as a threat on my life? I'll seek my own legal advice on that.
You want people to post here and thats what you reveal what you do with their information?
Amazing and revelatory material about a Sinn Fein member, albeit one from the 3rd division.
If I were minded like you, I might show your blog to some people who you wouldn't ever want to meet.
Again, your atttiude to people expressing their opinion, which you invite, shows your true attitude to freedom of speech.

"I find your threat above quite astounding Chris."
It isn't a threat, merely a statement of fact.
"You've shared details with others, including the IP address of posts that someone (who may or not be me)appear to have made?"
I showed them posts made from a civil service IP during working hours.
"Who might these people be?"
Never you mind!
"Given that we have recently argued about the facts surrounding a murder occurring near you, might you not be threatening me and implicitly anyomne who posts on your site?"
LOL, you are clearly unbalanced Jo, get a life!

"You want people to post here and thats what you reveal what you do with their information?"
What? Any chance you could repost in English?
"Amazing and revelatory material about a Sinn Fein member, albeit one from the 3rd division."
LOL, I wasn't aware those sorts of division occurred in Sinn Fein.
"If I were minded like you, I might show your blog to some people who you wouldn't ever want to meet."
You can show my blog to whoever you like, it's a blog FFS! It's supposed to be public!
"Again, your atttiude to people expressing their opinion, which you invite, shows your true attitude to freedom of speech."

Time will tell about the background of certain individuals. Certain people (obviously not Chris) detest Vance as much as I do.
If someone like him talks a lot of talk about wanting people dead then, in the past, either they took part in trying to make that happen or else they're talking hypocritical rabble rousing armchair-general shit.
Its not personal. I pay my licence fee and see that man appear disproportionately to any group he represents.
He is hardly a David Dunseith or Fionnuala O'Connor. Having recently in his book admitted his residency in Ballyoran estate (Portadown) the murders of a number of Catholics (Trainor, Connolly) in that estate were conspicuously absent.
I wonder why? Further, why doesn't the owner of this site?

"CB = Christian Brothers."
What has my educational background got to do with anything. Bro McFaland always said, "get up on your hind legs and speak", that's what I do.
"But you do need to reconsider your way of responding to people when they argue. It really wont work in court."
This is a blog, a conversational media. It bears no reltion to how I conduct myself in a professional capacity.
"Repeating what your opponent says and saying something along the lines of:
*Bollix*
*Youre a sock puppet*
*Troll*
..doesnt work."
When you post under different identites you are a sock puppet!
When you derail every thread with the same obsession that makes you a troll.
I have never used the phrase "bollix", Bollocks maybe but never bollix.
"Youre a big teddy, really."
Let's not go that far lol.
"You guyz bate the Big Man"
Which big man?
"Vance is mad at that and someone we should all laff at."
I don't believe that we should laugh at anyone, compassion is a very important human trait which most of us should strive towards.
"Did you read how he walked out of the FP church? - what a day that musta been for all the real Christians"
I have no time for the Free P sect but I have to say that I admire him in one respect. Having the balls to stand by your principles is a rare thing these days. It's a value I admire in others.
"But he gets £300 a throw on H and M, doesnt allow disagreement on his site or slugger and thats twice my fuckin licence fee"
So find another way to challenge him, set up your own blogs, write letters etc
But really Jo, take a step back from this. This is not healthy!

"sock-puppeting" is defined as "the act of creating a fake online identity to praise, defend or create the illusion of support for one’s self, allies or company."
The key difference between a sockpuppet and a regular pseudonym (sometimes termed an "alt") is the pretense that the puppet is a third party who is not affiliated with the puppeteer.
