Seems to be gambling that FF will split the nationalist vote and the TUV won't split the Unionist vote. Due to the DUP effectively morphing into the TUV.

Might this also not come back to bite the Unionists on the arse in the future

Of course it will Tony, foresight has never been a Unionist gift.

They are still checking out 1690.

Gravatar The last time I checked Turkey's didn't vote for Christmas.

and damned few of then vote SF

Gravatar Interesting wording in the St Andrews agreement Chris

"The Government will introduce an Irish Language Act reflecting on the experience of Wales and Ireland"

It took more than 400 years for Wales to get the Welsh Language act of 1997 - so I think you will be waiting a while

Gravatar "The devolution of Policing and Justice is another example of how the DUP's word can not be trusted."

Really, Chris?

Presumably, because they agreed to devolve those powers by May 2008?

Or, rather, because the Sinn Féin leadership told you they had agreed to that deadline.

When, as you well know, they hadn't.

Whose word "can not be trusted"?

Gravatar I am sorry Chris this website can no longer be trustd as a barometer of s
any serious SF thinking. Because you dont think. You drink - and post.

Gravatar Jo

I haven't drunk in two weeks, thanks for the concern though.

Gravatar BTW Jo

This site was never designed as a baromoter of SF thinking, it is not a party blog.

It is my blog!

Gravatar I went back and read the St Andrews agreement again a couple of times - and have to wonder - which Government ? Several governments are involved, the Government of the ROI, the Government of the UK and the future Government of the devolved NI. But specification is thin on the ground. So it's not specified which government "will introduce an Irish Language Act" etc etc .

Had a look at the Legislation rather than the St Andrews Agreement itself.

It says

"Finally, this part of the Bill places duties on the Executive to adopt strategies relating to the Irish and Ulster Scots languages, Ulster Scots heritage and culture, and
poverty and social exclusion."

Other mentions of the irish language issue are equally vague and non-specific. No time frame.

That has always been very clear.

p.s. ever hear from young Savage ?

Gravatar I was talking to him just last week Ivan, he is doing well.

Gravatar Give the blighter my best wishes Chris

Gravatar Great photo, Chris.
Shouldn't someone be calling for Petesy's arrest?

Gravatar Slight difference Obs - that picture was taken in Israel in the 1980s - what offence was committed ?

Gravatar Ivan
how about the crime of petey looking so damn sexey?

Gravatar Why are so many of you republican camp followers, especially the diasporan ones, homosexual Sean ?

Gravatar C'mon Ivan that's what camp followers do isn't it, provide comfort? Shouldn't a veteran like yoursel know that

Can a man not show admiration, or admit that another male is a sex god without being accused of being a visitor to vegemite valley?

Gravatar Sniff - you see, Chris was talking nonsense when he said " When it comes to humour, food, social custom and heritage we are one." Those "Greek" customs have no place in my community

Gravatar Nor mine Ivan

Let's remember that Sean is a Canadian, always a little suspect in that regard.

The Scots also, the wear dresses after all

Gravatar Cough, cough - Dresses ? As I recall Pearse was the man who introduced the idea to Ireland and He, his Brother William and Conn Colbert wore them regularly.

Gravatar The man was a Patriot, not a God.

He had to have the odd bad day

Gravatar At least he wasn't Canadian

Gravatar True lol

Gravatar Hmm are you sure the irish have a sense of humour?
Was it all just a rumour?
you make one little joke
about an irish bloke
and they accuse you of wearing a bloomer

Gravatar We have a great sense of humour - and we dislike plastics

Gravatar Now, now Ivan

Sean is one of the good guys

Gravatar I'll take your word for it Chris - Sorry Sean!

Gravatar Plastic paddy doesn't that mean fake or wanna be irishman? Because I don't want to be an Irish man, your politics are just a whole lot more interesting then Canadian politics

But there was a time that I tried to convert a wee girlie from Irish to bog standard Canadian

Gravatar "Slight difference Obs - that picture was taken in Israel in the 1980s - what offence was committed ?"

Possession of an offensive face?

"But there was a time that I tried to convert a wee girlie from Irish to bog standard Canadian"

How´d that work out, Sean?

Gravatar That was me. I think.Hic.

Gravatar Tsk Obs - the demon drink. I remember reading somewhere a nationalist politician saying that the reason they striggled with Unionists was that during conferences they got pissed and next morning had to face the opposotion who didn;t have hangovers

Gravatar Not too well Obs, apparently she prefered the wilds of deepest Antrim to the metropolitan goodness of the Great Central Plains of Canada

Go figure

Gravatar Antrim ? Better off without her mate - they are all savages in that part of the world!

Gravatar Anybody who striggled with unionists was bound to suffer for it in the morning¨

Ivan may have a point,Sean.

Gravatar She was quite a tiger which is why I tried to convert her lol

Antrim is not so bad met lots of freindly people there

well maybe not Balymena

Gravatar I know all about Antrim women, Sean.
For the sake of your sanity, man, stay away

Tell us more about striggling, Ivan.
I imagine it was banned by the one true church

Gravatar I wish we had an edit facility.

As Chris is clean living these days I'll avoid mentioning that there are a few lady nationalists I'd happily struggle with
