"His choice of staff has also been a cause for concern."

Agreed. We're getting a new Clinton administration, and the whole reason I supported Obama is that I did not want a new Clinton administration but a new progressive departure from past politics. I'm getting increasingly skeptical, but please God let this man transform our country to what it should be from the disaster it has become.

I agree completely with you. The next few months will tell us how he intends to go. He has a lot to do so it may that some of his choices for staff may be an attempt to build bridges. So many people are expecting 'change' that if the only change is management and some style changes it will be drastic for politics in general as well as for much of the world.

Gravatar He has to know how much the world is expecting of him. Anyone but Bush is of course an improvement, yet his legacy could suffer for only settling for that easily achieved accolade.

Gravatar I sense, and have seen it written by others, that this guy aspires to greatness.

Not to be a by the book Democratic politician or dealmaker - but to get fundamentally important things done.

I am impressed by what I see thus far.

Gravatar Interesting comment, Phantom.

Obama is ambitious, no question.

I tend to think that he is a consentual figure, someone who doesn't want to make enemies but rather bring everyone along with him. Hense his emphasis on bipartisanism.

For my money, if he wishes to achieve 'greatness' he must do many radical things and therefore unavoidably make many angry enemies. I don't believe he will do this, not least because he seems to already have one eye on a second term.

I'm keeping an open mind for the moment though. I'm usually wrong about these things anyway!
