) But the main problem with your position is that you should join with all other democrats in totally alienating those who would undo your own party's project (which coincides with the majority population in the North) You should know that vance and McAllister will do what they have done in the past (foment ultras) and will provoke those in s Armagh and other placs that PIRA can no longer control. Nothing suits David vancs agenda more than dissident republicanism. if you tolerate him, you tolerate them. And vice versa. And thus, you'll e undone. Be consistent. STAMP OUT the extremists.

I have proved, countless times on this site and others, my opposition to dissident Republicanism and indeed to bigoted Unionism.
That said both groups are members of the Irish Nation and should be included as much as possible.

Good post, Chris, here's one Prod that agrees with you. We are indeed one people but with differet flavours, as you'll find in any nation. The trick Irishmen still have to perfect, though, is accepting differences without trying to change them. Personally I would love to spend a week in South Armagh and try to understand you guys properly. But the big blocker for Unionists in engaging in this kind of forum is the "PIRA: legitimate or terrorist?" issue. It's probably the most difficult issue for Republicans too. For all, sorry seems to be the hardest word.
All seems rather pointless - the Irish people don't want a United Ireland. NI joining the ROI ? Makes as much sense as it would have been for West Germany to come under East German control.

One of the interesting things is that along with the ability to acknowledge men who served in both world wars it is now more common to see that people who chose a different path. while considered to have been "wrong" may have gone that way with honourable motives. That seems to have become possible in the past couple of decades.
