There may have been a reason for extrajudicial punishments in the bad old days. But there's no justification for it in 2007.

But that doesn't make it defensible as a general position that should be endorsed by political parties, especially those in government, right?

I am not saying that anyone should whack peelers. Bobby Dylan clearly has an objection to the republican peace strategy and asks how it has brought us any closer to unity. I am merely asking him to adduce evidence of how those few deluded reprobates who wish to continue war have advanced the cause of Irish unity. I was pointing out that their military ineptitude hardly places them in a position to castigate others for attempting to achieve liberty.
