Great piece on a very emotive issue. The sentence given to that murdering scum bag was an absolute disgrace. Two men lie cold in their graves, and a scumbag joyrider thug gets 4 years in a YDC! An absolute joke! This flies in the face of the outpouring of revulsion and anger that we witnessed in the aftermath of Gerry's death. The vigil on the Dublin Rd is testament to this fact. Indeed the dignity with which the two families have conducted themselves in this difficult period, is in stark contrast to the scumbag that caused the whole sorry mess! Personally I would love to see Mc Ginn and all scumbag joy riders hanging from a gallow somewhere and at times like this one must really ponder the benefit of the death penalty!
It's cases like these that make me wonder if sitting on the bench sends people mad or something, completely disgusting sentence.

At least this is one issue we can agree on. The sentence is an absolute disgrace. Especially in light of the escalation of this scourge in areas like West Belfast etc.. This will do sweet fuck all to deter young hoodlums from killing more innocent people via their death driving. This issue transcends barriers of political opinion, race, religion and sex. Justice Harts sentence is a great disservice to decent people every where.
At least this dirty piece of shit will see the inside of what passes for gaol. Too, too many hardly even see so much as an extended driving ban and large fine.

Words fail me at the stupidity of the judiciary.
Sooner or later society is going to have to face up to the fact that the judiciary are a large part of the problem we call anti-social behaviour. Some of the sentences handed out are incomprehensible.
My heart goes out to the Fearon and Shields famlies. I know what they have gone through and are going through at the moment. My daughter Jennifer Cassidy from Bessbrook was killed by a drunk banned driver who has a two year suspended jail sentence. He is drinking, playing darts and pool. He was playing pool in Tully's in Belleek and a man told me you would think it was a dog he killd by the way he was enjoying himself. He went to his firm's Christmas party on 21st Dec 07, Jennifer was buried on the 17th Dec 07. What more can you say. His case has not come up yet but you can bet he will get a slap on the back and told not to do it again.

The juidiciary needs to start handing out sentences that fits the crime. 4years for taking 2 lives is a fucking joke. The sooner judges start clamping down on death drivers the better. Your case touched me, and the dispicable manner in which the death driver continues in his daily routine is disgusting. No doubt in two years that scum bag Mc Ginn will be back out drinking and driving. Scum like him will never learn, they have no moral fibre and are incapable of any decent act. Indeed he near killed himself in a car crash a few years before he killed two innocent men. If this did not deter him, I'm sure 4/2 years in a YOC will not deter him either.
This pales into insignificance when you consider the early release of terrorist prisoners.

you all talk as thought christhopher McGinn is the onli drink driver that walked the earth... there are many others out there and one case isnt going to stop somebody drink drivin!!!! its not onli young ones that drink drive so not one of yas can talk or say that yas havnt dun it fair play if you havnt but not many ppl can say that!!!

everybody takes about christopher as if he is a murder. christopher didnt go out that night and say i am goin to kill someone it was an accident and if people cant see tat then i really dont know. i do feel sorry for both of these families tat have lost someone in the accident but i also feel for the mc ginn family as there is so many people sayn things about them and christopher and it is js nt fair as christopher is doing his time for what he has done. people are also sayn that he didnt get long enough but that is js wat the judge gave him. if christopher got 10 years people would still be sayin e didnt get enough. christophers life will nt b the same when he gets out and he will regrett it for the rest of his life im sure if he could turn back time he wouldnt get in that car but he did and he is now paying for that!!!!!!
Chris didn't intend on hurting anyone, why does no1 see tht? He's the nicest person about ut evry1 beleves what they hear and read in the papers but let me tell ya the papers couldn't be further from the truth. He does feel remorseful so how dare any1 that doesn't know him say tht. And diamon is right, its far from a holiday camp!! At the end of the day no amount of years behind bars will bring back the men that unfortunatly died

well frank lets just hope u dont make 1 mistake in your life and cause an accident and let innocent people die ... would you rot in there or take your own life.. or maybe you would want to be castrated??? just stop and think about all these accusations flying about in this blog.. everyone makes mistakes.. NOT everyone owns up and faces the consiquences.. grow up!!!
