We should all be pretty repulsed by what was done to Palin. I never thought she was perfect; I just thought she'd make a great president.
The political left made it their mission to destroy not only her but her family. This is what totalitarians have always done. You take out the enemy and his (her) children to make sure they don't come back for revenge.
The only way to stop this is to deliver the liberals the most sweeping political repudiation in American history. We need to defeat them utterly in the next two elections.
I hope it happens. We need to do it not only for ourselves but for Sarah Palin, whose only "crime" was posing a threat to the liberal acquisition and wielding of power.

I just listened to an audio over at Conservatives4Palin where she was asked, essentially, is it worth all the crap she takes. Listen to her answer and tell me that she is a quitter.
John Ziegler asks Gov Palin about Leaving Public Life
I think she's crazy like a fox.
They tried to make her irrelevant by bogging her down and wasting her time and money with baseless ethics charges. They thought she'd stay on defense forever and never get her voice heard, other than to respond to another potshot by the leftists.
She's not playing their game anymore. Like Meg Stapleton said...they put their block up and don't even recognized that she's done an endrun around them for the easy layup. Listening to Stapleton, I really felt she was trying to keep herself from announcing Palin's running for 2012.
Sarah is not a quitter. She will now be free to do what's best for Alaska and for America without having to be encumbered by a role as a besieged lame duck.
So I'll agree with Levin on this one and disagree with HotAir, Ace, Geraghty, Goldberg, Lowry..etc. I think they might be too "inside" to see what's in front of them and I think they don't know how to respond to someone who stands on principle and does what's best for her family, Alaska...and soon...AMERICA.

From what I understand, there have been a good many Alaska politicians, who have come to the conclusion that they would have been better off if they had not made Sarah Palin mad at them. I look forward to the day when many more of the leftists in America say that.

Sarah served as a great governor in Alaska, and nearly everyone agreed until she was nominated as the VP candidate. Then, people came out of the woodwork to hate and criticize her.
Yes, Tom, repulsed is the right word. Alaska is the loser in this matter -- Sarah was just what we needed!

Well, folks, think about it. What are the two fastest growing political movements in the country? That's right, the Tea Parties and the 10th Amendment movement. Read her press release - does that sound like she's quitting politics? I predict she will start raising money for, and campaigning for, legislators, governors and attorneys general who will take the fight to Imperial Washington DC. If the folks she supports do well in 2010, she's got a whole nuther way to the presidency and the Washington elites of both parties will be out in the cold. There's a new sheriff in town.

The only time true Mavericks quit is when they are making a sacrfice for the TEAM. Her language was very symbolic. She did this to show her independence of conventional politics. Sarah Palin is a Maverick!!!!!!

We have watched as the worst America has to offer trashed a family that is about as close to the best America has to offer as you'll ever see. It's the nature of evil to revile against those that are good and decent. Honest Americans are not deceived by the attacks on her and if I am ever fortunate enough to vote for her I look forward to a time when this soon to be worst President ever is powerless to defame and denigrate this great nation ever again.

Wherever she leads, I'm gonna follow....perhaps the only decision the GOP needs to make is who will be her VP running mate. Hillary, eat your heart out. Palin would NEVER give her delegates away in a close presidential race, let alone give them away to a usurper! Wasn't it Hillary herself who said that BHO was ineligible to be president? Even Bill Clinton hemmed and hawed and tried to dodge that question before finally giving a lukewarm (unconvincing) affirmative.

Craig, I need to apologize to you for my behavior. I'm sorry. I said really terrible things to you, which was wrong.
Last night I read the most horrifying hatred of my life, on the Cynthia McKinney thread, and it opened my eyes. I don't want to be a part of that, and I especially don't want to be responsible for making you hesitate about posting here.
You were right: We're on the same side. And you we're right: My actions were bullying and thuggish. I'm sorry. I have no excuses. I took it to a crazy extreme.
It's not necessary for you to accept my apology or even comment on it. I just want you to know that I promise I won't attack you that way again. It was wrong.
You and I will never agree on things, but that doesn't matter. I just hope that you won't feel intimidated from speaking your mind. Please feel free to post whatever you want on all the threads. I had no right to say the things I said about you. I'm sorry.

Watched the movie you recommended too. The Manchurian Candidate and I've thought that was going on here for some time. I have a lot of thoughts about that type of thing going on in our country but usually don't say much because people think I'm to radical but I think people just don't want to face the reality of what is really going on behind our backs! I think there was a whole lot of brain washing going on in this election. I believe what happened to Sarah Palin and her family was just utterly disgusting. I am certainly disappointed by this news, but do understand completely that she may well be sick of the attacks on her family by the putrid vomit that makes up most of the American media and so-called entertainment establishment.
How could anyone be expected to endure this type of treatment? How could any mother be asked to repeatedly defend her children against the worst this so-called compassionate and tolerant society slings their way day after day, week after week?
I am today, truly ashamed to call myself an American...and tomorrow is July the 4th! What do we have to celebrate? Freedoms? Freedom of Speech? Or, is it the freedom to slander and malign those who cannot defend themselves; a one year child who’s only want in life is the love of his family. How sick we are that the children of our leaders (Republicans/Conservatives/Christians),and society-at-large have become targets for far-left anti-American, immoral, and unethical filth that cannot wage intelligent opposition, who cannot debate with civility and purpose. What kind of society breeds this sickness?
Then there are the endless, mindless, and, baseless attacks against her and her staff have adversely affected her capability to lead effectively. How can she be expected to run the State of Alaska when she and her staff have to devote 80% of their daily activities to fighting Democratic (and her own Party RINO’s) assassins? She is right, why should Alaskans have to pay for this? Especially the cost's (over $2M), involved in defending against these attacks. That figure does not include the man-hours her staff (State Payroll) and her lawyers ($$$) have put into defending against the Democratic assault. She is over $500K in debt for what?
I ask all...and especially the liberal far-left scum in this God forsaken country.... can you take this heat?
God bless Sarah Palin and her family. May they live to see a better, brighter America.

Tom,
Yes we are on the same side. We just don't agree on the solutions to fix this problem. Beag deal!
But hey! Who needs an echo chamber anyway? The more opinions, the better.
I am more pragmatic and conservative. For me, the Constitution is the law of the land and it should always be respected and never trampled. I have ZERO tolerance for people who spit on it like Obama and his croonies.
I am the type of man to act at the beginning of a wrong doing, so things will not get out of control. I think a bit like Churchill when he said:
“If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves."
I am a wise "old" man, I do not trust the bum in the Oval Office. I want no one to give Obama a chance for his evil doing to succeed. I especially do not want people to give him the time to get really organised. I want him out NOW.
I believe that: "The longer you wait, the tougher the battle, the higher the price."
I have a gut feeling that Obama will rig the 2010 election... and will steal the 2012... if there is one. I sincerely believe there will be no America to take back in 2012. By that time it will be completely destroyed.
I think that Usurper in Chief will install Martial law as soon as he will be really afraid of the right wing "terrorists" (Tea protesters, pro-lifers and Birthers)and will provoke a crisis that will justify it.
This is why I am constantly trying to shake your walls of inerty and warning you not to be so complacent, tolerant or over confident.
It is done with good intentions, never to insult you. Sorry if I wasn't clear enough.
So I accept your apology Tom, if it is really you who wrote that post. Never know for sure on this site... lol.
If it is you, then fine! This way, I will not have to insult you back and this blog will be a fantastic place to exchange opinions. I will be very happy with it.
I hate arguing, fighting and insulting. These are not my things. This is why I never answer to leftists. Glad that this is over.
Thanks!

Gov. Palin said Alaska will be better off without her as Governor and she is correct. The JUMPING EVIL coming at her and her family costs Alaska far too much in money and time lost defending against frivolous law suits. For now, the SCREAMING, DROOLING, VOMITING, CURSING EVIL of letterman, couric, etc has won a decisive victory over goodness and kindness and rational life on Earth. In all truth Gov. I have nothing against you. I know you like and sides with Tom. I can understand this. Besides, I am not the rancorous type. Life is too short for that.
This is probably why I want Obama out NOW... so I won't have to hate him till 2012 ... or for life. Hating someone is such a burden. Let's get rid of him now and get over with that hatred.

I haven't read all the comments here but I am glad I started...I was getting depressed hearing all that crap from HotAir et al.
Someone talked above about how the left is all about destruction--that's what they've done through history, even to individual's families, because they seem to be into that "sins of the father" belief. This justifies, to them, the destruction of a family.

Unfortunately, this American must be quite ignorant, since the rights to Citizen Grand Jury was removed from our Constitution, way back. USA is the only country who still have these rights. And this is the reason why, on June 29th and July 1rst, D.C. accepted the presentments from the Grand Jurors.
Will they act on it? This is another story. Your Government has become so corrupted, I doubt it. Grand Jurors will have more chances to succeed with a conservative Judge from a small county Court.
And of course, we have a fantastic conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper who is perfectly eligible.

Sarah Palin is terrific. She is multi-facited and never has to read a teleprompter because she knows what she thinks. She is as honest as the day is long and yet everyday the media tries to destroy her, while giving the crooked Dems a pass. Palin is the most exciting Republican and when it comes to being a rock star Obama doesn't hold a candle to her. Now Palin will get all the air time she wants to tell America what Republicans stand for. Go ahead Dems hi-5 yourselves -- you think you got rid of Sarah Palin. The joke's on you.

The only way to stop this is to deliver the liberals the most sweeping political repudiation in American history. We need to defeat them utterly in the next two elections. - Tom W.
Well boo friggin' hoo, big boy.
You just figured out that maybe you should get off your butt and work for a candidate instead of playing King of the Comment Section. Bravo. Too bad the election was last year. You only missed it by 7 months!
Lil' Cut-N-Run Palin can't hack it. She's a thin-skinned loser who couldn't even pull off a half term as governor of the tiniest state. So yeah, this is obviously all part of her secret plan to dominate the field in 2012. Brilliant!
What a week for America - we get Al Franken as Senator and Sarah Palin throws the ultimate temper tantrum and just up and quits because people are laughing at her. Oh no, call the waaahbulance! Bwahahahaha!!!!
You guys won't do a thing about it either. All this tough talk will fizzle and turn into nothing. Come 2012 you'll all just sit there like deer in the headlights and Obama will win again. And once again you'll be smugly predicting his defeat - just like you did last time, just like you're doing now.

Sarah Palin Quits While She's Behind
I'm watching Sarah Palin's fan club on Fox News--including the shameless Greta Van Susteren--trying to spin Palin's decision to step down as governor of Alaska midterm and it's remarkable how they can take straight Palin's phony-baloney explanation that she can do more for Alaska by working from outside the government instead of hanging on and fulfilling the duties for which she was elected. If she had said, "I can do more for my national prospects by kissing this job buh-bye and readin' up real good like Jonah Goldberg recommends and getting my presidential campaign team assembled", that would have carried a certain crass, calculating plausibility. But to pretend that it's Alaska's welfare that's uppermost in her mind and she can do more in a civilian capacity than serving as the actual governor of the state, is a bit stretchy.
And releasing such a bombshell announcement on the Friday of a holiday weekend is a calculated news-dump move, not a brilliant PR coup. Especially with Michael Jackson's funeral coming up. Perhaps she plans to attend Michael's funeral at the Staples Center and see what she can do there for Alaska. Now Bill Kristol is speculating that maybe Palin is "crazy like a fox," which given his infallible record for being assbackwards wrong, means she's simply crazy.
Now Fox is showing the official announcement by Palin. She sounds nervous, pinched, but at least a large animal isn't being loudly disemboweled behind her. The tension in her throat and her forced smile suggest that she's trying to put a bright coat of paint on an untenable situation without telling us the real story. This rollcall of self-congratulation defies logic, translating as, "We've done a helluva job, that's why I have to leave, otherwise things might get too good." And her rattling litany of complaints about her press coverage--not very Reaganesque.
"Only dead fish go with the flow."
Go, flow.

Diva talks big because she's got to comfort Little Baracky, who's back in the No-Whiteys House screaming and sucking his thumb at the thought that his puppet trolls aren't going to be able to abuse state ethics laws to take potshots at Palin any more -- and the fact that she's now free to fight back.
What's Baracky done since he's taken office, Diva? Let's see: hired tax cheats to staff his Cabinet, broken his own vows to hire no lobbyists, ignored the law he co-sponsored barring Inspectors General from being fired with less than 30 days notice, reneged on his promise to post every bill for five days before signing, supported Iran's crackdown on its citizens and Honduras's Chavez-wannabe dictator, alienated our European allies, pushed unemployment to near-record levels far above what he claimed his "stimulus" would do, quadrupled the Federal budget deficit, and forced even rats like Warren Buffett and Colin Powell to jump ship and admit that his spending is unsustainable.
With a record like that, no wonder you have to attack Palin. Obama can only win by tearing other people down to his level.

The petulant left can't take the fact that the GOP may be first with a female president, you see only they can do that. They are ones who gave us civil rights only by blocking such attempts by the GOP for years just so they could say they did it. Now they will have a Latina SC justice but blocked Bush's future candidate. Out of pure hate and lust they ridicule Plain and her family. Diva Slayer ... remember 1994?
That is where Mr. Obama and his Best and Brightest are taking you by their overreaching.
Keep in mind that, despite all your hard work, a lapdog media, Soros, and ACORN, Mr. Obama only pulled in 53% of the popular vote ... and that was before We the People started seeing what he was really about when it came to policy.
Your arrogant disdain of those who do not march in lockstep with your conventional wisdom blinds you to the wisdom they possess ... wisdom that will be seen by We the People, and as in 1994, replace your conventional wisdom as the guiding force in our Congress.
And eventually, in the White House.
This is the last gasp of the 1960's generation who created the conventional wisdom you follow ... their last chance to Save the Legacy of Woodstock Nation ... a nation that can never last, for it feeds the worst parts while diminishing the best parts of human nature.
Either it will be rejected ... or such conventional wisdom will pave the way for us to follow Rome into oblivion.
I'm betting on the former ... and I think Sarah Palin will play a big part in making that happen.
Don't misunderestimate her ... or us.

WHY DID SARAH PALIN QUIT?
Indictments are forthcoming.
There's no way she quits because a blogger made fun of her.
There's no way she quit so she wouldn't be a lame duck, and that's a lame excuse anyway. Every pol becomes a lame duck at some point. You don't just quit after a half term because you might be a lame duck some day.
Rumblings on local Alaska blogs: embezzlement, free lakefront house (stolen materials? no receipts or record of payment for anything...) , suspiciously large endorsements for Todd's snow machine racing team (it ain't exactly NASCAR)
Feds closing in...investigations started under Bush administration...huge scandal just under the surface...
This doesn't seem right because it's not. There's more to this than meets the eye.
And Sarah Palin did not give an actual reason for her resignation. She just quit.
Stay tuned.

What a silly question. She's already announced that she's resiging as governor. If she's indicted, we'll say, "Crap. That's terrible. How disappointing."
She's the soon-to-be former governor of Alaska. The current president of the United States, on the other hand, a man who has no intention of resigning, is failing faster and more comprehensively than maybe any president in history. Seven more banks closed by the feds yesterday. That means 52 banks closed since Obama took power. TARP isn't working.
The "stimulus" legislation isn't working, either. Obama's policies are causing a double-dip recession, for which he'll deservedly be blamed. We don't have the money for cap and trade or nationalized health care, but he'll try to ram those through anyway and then jack up our taxes in a futile attempt to pay for them. And he's severely strained our alliances with Britain, Israel, and India, all of vital strategic importance to America's national security.
But you think the big news is Sarah Palin. That's good, because it shows that you've taken your eye off the ball. You believe your side's propaganda, that everything is groovy. You'll regret that mightily some day.
Someday is peeking over the horizon.

Why Did Sarah Palin Resign?
[Secret is, Palin's decision will now allow her to avoid the difficult task of running for president while serving as a sitting governor.
She made a brief statement and took no questions at a presser today.]
The Book of Sarah (Palin)
how many businesses are there in Alaska??
more than enough..
do many Alaskans know or know of each other??
seems to me they do..
are many businesses in Alaska
familiar with one another??
believe so, yes..
or do most travel to the lower 48
to make friends & acquaintances??
don't really think so..
Obligatory Sarah Palin Resignation Post
[Jeez, the number of theories grows by the hour! Who dares pick now? If there really is an indictment in the offing, I fear that breathless speculation won't nudge it along any faster.
But what I do find genuinely intriguing is what the Palin diehards have been saying. You have, for example, the good people of Conservatives 4 Palin comparing the Alaska governor's resignation to Julius Caesar. And you have Bill Kristol speculating that her gamble could turn out to be quite shrewd. This strikes me as sociologically interesting. If her resignation -- which was a really a halting ramblefest -- doesn't shake the faith, what will?]

Sarah Palin Crosses the Rubicon
[In any case, Palin has crossed the Rubicon and made her stand clear. She gave us a hint before when she said "Politically, if I die, I die." I think this was her equivalent of alea iacta est. She will now be the anti-Obama, standing up for her personal beliefs, free of the constraints the Alaskan people have placed on her. She is now free of them, and they of her - though I think they will be the ones to regret it first.]

Derivatives of old, moldy rumors started by those who, being unable to win on principle, resort to dirty politics to gain an unprincipled advantage.
We see right through them ... and their gnat-strained monkey poo hasn't stuck yet, despite multiple attempts.
They FEAR her, because she wins on principle ... and they know that once principle, instead of political veneer, returns to its rightful place of value in our public discourse, they will be unable to influence policy and hold on to their own, hedonistic, theocracy of the self.

Either way, it doesn't really matter too much. If they nail her, it's fantastic entertainment. If they don't nail her, then she's still a wacko coward who couldn't stand the heat. Her actions won't win her a single new supporter, but her cult followers will stick with her until the end, and make the Republicans all that much more electable!

I predict that over the next year or so Palin will make more money in legal actions against idiots like you making baseless libellous assertions than from any other source. Her attorneys put out a 4-page note today warning that legal actions are likely - and spelling out in detail why the Palins are utterly clean on her house and the sports centre construction. And the FBI have decalred categorically that there is no investigation on this. The whole thing is an empty nonsense, and has been for many years.
Now how come a Brit like me, in London, has heard this truth - but your bias blinds you to the fact that the attacks on Palin have been scurrilous, a campaign based on accusations that were known to be false.
You WANT Palin to be guilty of something. Anything - you really don't care. And that blind hatred will consume you in the end.

Freak show?
Well, parrot, you and 53% of this nation already sent in the clowns, as we see more and more each day.
Unlike you, a good portion of that 53% will act to start cleaning up that circus, starting in 2010 ... because Ms. Palin will look anything but freaky then, especially by comparison.
Amused wanna cracker?

All the talk of MO being another Jackie O. but it's Sarah Palin who can pair what looks like the top half of one of Jackie O.'s skirt suits with a pair of jeans and - Voila! - she looks fabulous.

This is what you all think, and you think someone was mean to Palin?
"Michelle Obama's toned arms, her THUNDEROUS BUTTOX, and maybe her 7th grade quality Princeton Thesis?? Oh and aren't those Opie children just beautiful? What are their names again?
Hopey and Changey??"
Maybe it is time for extremists on both sides - left and right - to take a look at themselves before they bash the *other* side.

These inane and unsupported tributes to an unqualified candidate - and now quitter - are beyond belief. It is staggering to think that people who could be so dumb as to try to make a case for this tiresome woman, Palin, to be president. It is, quite frankly, scary. There are MANY across this great land who would LOVE to see her run for POTUS: For the simple reasons that she is unelectable and will create an easy second 4 years for Obama - AND she is such a phoney she is absolutely hilarious with her idiotic comments. Run, Palin, Run! You truly are the (laughable) gift that keeps on giving! (Wake up, people, and recognize that the GOP is totally bereft of any genuine leadership.)
