What? You mean a Republican would actually resign their held office in order to run for another one and not continue to remain on the state/federal payroll?
Unheard of. Did Palin not get the Obama message of "keep your office, have the taxpayers continue to pay you and not do your job you were elected to do"?

Not a good move. She needs to have ONE term as a governor under her belt for credentials. If she does this it will hurt her chances. What worked for a Dem will not work for a Rep.

Well pundits are saying her chances are over to ever achieve higher political office by resigning mid term. It would be understandable to not run for a second term, but not to resign during the first. So unless it's due to a serious medical issue and she can't currently do her job, she's toast for the national political scene.

She must have gotten caught and resigned to avoid a huge scandal.
It does not make sense for anyone to not complete their one term as Governor if you plan on running for President.

There is a silver lining around that cloud. Firt, I would say what the "left" has devolved into. As they sink lower and lower, I see conservatives taking a firmer stand on their principles.
Also,
While it's mentally trying to get thru most of thier incoherent ramblings, they are expoing themselves for who they really are.
Many people just read the comments, without ever jumping in. I was one of those, for a little while.
Let me tell you this. I knew the left had a condescending atitude towards blacks. But I never, ever would have imagined how really racist they are.
Because of GP, and the posters, I have learned all sorts of interesting history about the democratic party and its treatment of blacks, (and I went to a unversity--my major was AA studies, and Public Adminstration-political science).
So, while one may have to wade through the muck, there are gems of information to be found.
The people who post here are scary-smart. They not only have book-smarts, but LIFE experiences that are just as valuable. I put you in the category right along side of them.
So, be encourages. Besides, this is a highly entertaining, as well as informative blog.

Obama eliminated his opponents when he ran for Senate, and he was making sure Palin was eliminated before the the 2012 election. Obama has a real fear of Palin, because Palin is everything he is not - someone who loves America and wants to do the best for the American people; whereas, Obama hates everything America and wants to do everything possible to destroy the lives of the American people.
http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS...aign/
index.html
"In his first race for office, seeking a state Senate seat on Chicago's gritty South Side in 1996, Obama effectively used election rules to eliminate his Democratic competition.
As a community organizer, he had helped register thousands of voters. But when it came time to run for office, he employed Chicago rules to invalidate the voting petition signatures of three of his challengers.
The move denied each of them, including incumbent Alice Palmer, a longtime Chicago activist, a place on the ballot. It cleared the way for Obama to run unopposed on the Democratic ticket in a heavily Democrat district.
That was Chicago politics," said John Kass, a veteran Chicago Tribune columnist. "Knock out your opposition, challenge their petitions, destroy your enemy, right? It is how Barack Obama destroyed his enemies back in 1996 that conflicts with his message today. He may have gotten his start registering thousands of voters. But in that first race, he made sure voters had just one choice."

That's what I think.
Sarah doesn't want to be a drain on the system. She can't get anything accomplished. She doesn't want to just take a check and go with the flow.
And I think also she wants to be able to campaign with conservatives here in the lower 48 without having to deal with more baseless and costly ethics complaints.
And yes...I think this also frees her up to do all that, and more. I think she'll be able to study up on whatever she feels is lacking and of course, give speeches and be more available to speak out on the issues.

I read Jonah's latest piece, and those who call it an "attack" sound rather like Obie when he whines about the slightest whiff of criticism. Jonah is saying, "Here's what you need to do if you want a higher office."
It appears that she thinks:
1. The public's resources are wasted and they are cheated of full-time leadership when she has to spend most of her time defending against malicious and frivolous attacks.
2. She can best serve her country in the future in some way that does not involve elective office.

I'm not sure what's happening with Sarah Palin right now. I admit, it doesn't look too good for her to resign if she has national political aspirations, but, by the same token, as pointed out, she's spending so much time having to defend herself that she doesn't really have time to govern effectively, so by resigning, she removes having to worry about ankle-biting ethics complaints dogging her as she works the lower 48. Also, it clears the decks for her to speak out loudly on both Cap and Tax and Obamacare at a crucial time--another plus.
On the other hand, she might well be sick and tired, not so much of the attacks on her, but rather the attacks on her children, which have been relentless and incredibly brutal. I'll be honest, I couldn't take 10% of what's been thrown at her. Added to that, she's been betrayed by those within her own party, and John McCain has played the part of the Dauphin turning his back on Sarah's Jeanne d'Arc with his anemic responses to the attacks against her by his former staff and others--I can't help but think that she sees that as an incredible betrayal. Letterman...the never-ending ankle-biting ethics complaints...the relentless smears and mud-slinging coming not just from the Democratic manipulated and controlled media, but also from her own party...the cruel attacks on her infant son as well as teenage daughters--is it any wonder that she might want to just give up the entire process as being hopelessly broken and retire to a quiet life as business owner, wife, mother, and member of the community? I know I wouldn't hold it against her if she decided to do that, but I would mourn the loss of a valuable asset for this country should that be her choice.
What has Sarah Palin should never have been allowed to happen. It's a reflection of how diseased and sick our politics and culture have become. Not even Hercules could clean this Augean Stable.

Pat, it's all contrived. Mt. Flaccid Thingie feels genuine anguish over the plight of the poor, blameless Palestinians, but that's only because he was indoctrinated to feel that way. He also hates Jews, but at the core of that hate is the silly, childish conviction that Israel is a brutal, racist state, another idea implanted in the mush inside his skull.
But everything he posts here is calculated to anger you. You can tell because he trips himself up. He calls black people monkeys and then expresses purse-lipped outrage that a black person is detained by the Israelis.
He's here to stay, because he can't be banned, so my advice is to not engage him. He's a combination of true liberal believer and crap-stirrer, either position of which shows that he's not someone to take seriously. I've shown time and again that he lacks intellectual firepower. He's really nobody. Don't let him get under your skin. That's what he's trying to do.
His attacks on Palin are word for word what I expected. There are no surprises with this man. He's entirely generic, so don't let him get to you. There's no reason to. Besides, you think it's bad now, just wait until we approach the two elections. Mr. Flaccid Thingie is just the beginning. We have to develop a thick skin, because these creatures are going to pull out all the stops in their effort to get Obama and Co. reelected.

Hmmmm..... My 2 cents worth is that something stinks. This woman is a fighter, yet she was almost in tears (or so it appeared). She knows that the average conservative American love and look up to her, and that the politicians of both sides don't just hate her guts but ALL of her. SOooo...what's happening here? Is she being shoved to the back of the line, or being pushed out of line all together? I really admire Sarah Palin and wish her the best of luck. I'd be proud to call her my President, unlike that MT (Marxist Turd) we have for a president right now.

She is a mother, first and foremost. She needs to protect her children from these lefties/commies. Unfortunately, at this time, it looks like Letterman got what he wanted. She may not want to continue to place her children to be subjected to attacks by people like Letterman.
I don't find anything wrong with the emails that Vanity Fair thinks are bad. The McCain people should have gotten out in front of those attacks.

Personally, I think that Sarah decided she wasn't going to play the game that Obama and friends have been wanting to her to play. They have been trying to drain her physically, emotionally and financially since the campaign. And yet she still has the upper hand. She's making her own rules, that takes courage. That takes moral fortitude and faith.
Every day brings a new reason for American's to look for someone just like Sarah Palin. A real person with a real family, with real problems, but stand together and endure! She's down to earth and out spoken, not willing to just talk the talk. She's more than willing to walk the walk! A lot more than Obama has ever done.
They are running scared on the left because they will never be able to buy off Sarah Palin!

We really have devolved as a society--there are times I feel like just saying "why bother?" and giving up and walking away. Actually, Obama will clean out the stables, but not as part of a proactive plan. The cleaning will come from the public, which will turn on the Democrats with much greater fury than it turned on the Republicans.
Keep in mind that Sarah Palin is writing a book about her experiences. I have a feeling that she's going to expose quite a bit of the poison that she experienced at the hands of both parties.
Also, Obama is setting us up for a double-dip recession, which was predicted. Now that the economy shows signs of a slight recovery, his policies will kick in and cause it to contract again.
We're so far from 2012 that nobody can predict anything. It's just that doomcrying is the order of the day. Don't let it get to you. If Mr. Flaccid Thingie upsets you, scroll over him.

In case anyone wants to actually do something effective about all the smears the MSM has engaged in, the way to do it is to discredit the lower-level smearers. By that I mean the MSM reporters who've spread lies about her. And, the best way to do that is through linking their names to their lies. For instance, if you have a site, link Justin Pritchard and Garance Burke of the AP to that post, Dana Milbank to that post, and so on. (It won't work too well here because of how the comments are set up, but it will work on your site).
When someone lies about Palin, write a post calling them a liar, and then try to get your post to appear near the top of search results for their name. If enough people do that, the smears will greatly lessen.

Thanks Tom. It gets hard sometimes not to get a little down, but then I remember my mother and father and how they literally built their house out of nothing and sixty years later, it's still standing. My father didn't know how to read or write--he was a sharecropper and migratory worker when he met my mother. They married, built their dream house, and my mother and I taught him how to read and write and he rose to become the third highest person at the plant he worked at--all through hard work. I remember his and my mother's hard work and sacrifices and I get my second wind. We will reform and clean up our country.

Governor Palin is a close friend of Jesus Christ. God's friends don't look at family first priorities like the world does. I suspect her family is so incredibly pumped up.
Feminista women have very little to offer their family. They have a selfish agenda. When she ran against Obama, it was good against evil. Obama is peddling evil, unemployment and hate. Sarah draw millions to hear her speak.
She could do 15,000 a day hunting and fishing trips with her husband and be the envy of the maniacs that live in smelly huge cities.

What's really fascinating is the the other side of the coin: They can't relate to us. They view us as aliens not only from another planet but another dimension.
Last night Mr. Flaccid Thingie couldn't understand how I can post here when I don't agree 100 percent with everybody about everything. He couldn't grasp the notion of not being in total lockstep with all those around me.
He also said something quite revealing: It boiled down to the irresistible urge to express one's beliefs at all times. He can't understand deliberately withholding the expression of opinions. He's one of those people who feels that to voluntarily refrain from expressing a belief is a form of oppression. Expressing your opinion is a form of self-validation.
When I told him that I didn't find it necessary to inflict my beliefs on everyone at all times, he was flummoxed. He was simply unable to grasp the concept.
That explains liberals. That explains why so many of them are toxic mental patients. They have the infantile need to express themselves at all times, and if you say, "How about you temporarily tone that down," they go bat-crap crazy because you're essentially negating their existence.
Emotionally the average liberal seems to be about four years old.

Yes, similar window designs is an infallible sign of political chicanery.
No, it's not. But a legal defense fund is a pretty good indicator. But hey, keep it up on her behalf. The more you rally behind her, the more crushed you'll be when she goes off to the slammer, and the harder I will laugh.

I just heard Gov. Palin on a clip that I had not seen previously today. She specifically expressed that how her family (she named Trig) had been treated recently. Wasn't it here that the despicable picture was shown on some leftie/commie's website? It sounds to me that her family needed some relief from the attacks.
I bet Soros is behind a lot of this. We need someone with deep pockets to hire some PIs to dig up dirt on Reid and Pelosi. That would start the cracking of the wall around freedom that the lefties/commies have built.

Bg, I need to apologize for my behavior. I'm sorry. I went way over the line, and I was wrong.
Last night I had my eyes opened by the worst poison I've ever seen at Gateway Pundit, on the Cynthia McKinney thread.
I realized that I don't want to be a part of that. You don't have to accept my apology, but I just want you to know that I won't be doing what I was doing before. It was wrong, and I'm sorry.
No excuses. You don't need to respond. I've embarrassed both of us enough. Anyway, I hope you won't feel hesitant to post on any thread for fear of getting some crazy crap from me. I'm done saying stuff like that.
Craig was right; we're on the same side. We still won't agree on a lot of stuff, but I was wrong to take it to the level I did. I'm sorry.

It's weird. About 20 years ago, I and a group of friends would have dinner parties together. The man who hosted the parties was a gourmet cook, so he always put out a good spread and I always brought the wines. It was a diverse group: liberals, conservatives, moderates, non- and a-political types, Jews, Protestant Christians, both mainstream and evangelical, Catholics, a Muslim, Mormons, atheists and agnostics, black, white, Asian, Hispanic, and we always had a great time and after dinner, over cigars, pipes, brandy, coffee, or soft drinks, we'd talk about anything and everything--including politics. We were quite passionate about our politics, but we were all friends and we always parted as friends.
But liberals today...as you said, they do come across as toxic mental patients with not even a four year old's mentality. Believe it or not, I believe part of the problem stems from the failure to teach grammar as well as imbuing values and character in elementary school now. Grammar, by its nature, encourages a disciplined approach and requires logical thinking. Kids today are not taught values such as honor, integrity, self-restraint, or patriotism in school. The liberals here would say that is good, that we shouldn't be 'indoctrinating' our young--but that's the very purpose of schools, to socialize our young into our values system--and our school system has failed them.

I just found it quite convenient that you claim to hold some beliefs that run contrary to orthadox conservative doctrine, and yet have never once found an appropriate opportunity to express them here (despite posting hundreds of comments a day) and couldn't name any when asked.
Mr Blonde | 07.03.09 - 5:19 pm |
Thanks for proving my point, that you can't understand me.
I said I choose to not express my viewpoints. That's why I can't name any times I did so. Because I haven't. I keep my trap shut sometimes. To you that means I'm afraid, or The Man is intimidating me, or I worry that I'll offend people.
As bg can attest, I've shown no worry whatsoever about offending people, to my shame. I choose not to express my beliefs, because to express them serves no purpose. This blog isn't my only creative outlet.
Face it: You simply cannot comprehend voluntarily withholding the expression of opinions. You're like a toddler. That's fine, but I'm not.

Matt, I have experienced this. Every since I crossed to the other side, politics are absolutely off limits to many of my acquaintences and some family. I could listen to them, and be respectful. Maybe because I used to believe like them. But it's crazy. I only have a couple of people that I can completely be myself-talk about religion, politics, race)-with, and we are still very good friends.
Basically,the others shut me up.

No question. How many of the trolls show an ability to grasp logic? How many have the ability to engage in critical thinking? Look at the Unbannable One.
First he calls blacks monkeys from the jungle, then not two minutes later he's all righteous and indignant that one of these "monkeys" is being detained by the Israelis. When I called him on it, he said it was a "ridiculous" point to make.
I have no doubt whatsoever that he's genuinely unable to grasp the inconsistency of his positions, because he was never taught logic or how to engage in critical thinking. He was taught to blurt out whatever is on his mind, which is why he also can't understand the concept of deliberately withholding the expression of opinions.

Tom W. | 07.03.09 - 5:34 pm | #
I don't know...I know four year olds with more maturity. But yes, there is a measure of childishness. I was once talking with a friend of mine, and the subject was the "juvenilization" of the country--essentially that people don't want to grow up, and I think many liberals such as "Amused" fall into that category. They've never known hard times, mommy and daddy have always given them what they wanted--a new X-Box or game, their own wide-screen tv, whatever. They go to school and they're not taught grammar or logic or really any sort of values. They're not required to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance or to put their hands over their hearts, they don't really get the moral lessons behind such myths as George Washington and the cherry tree, they're not encouraged to think--just to respond and regurgitate.
I can't relate to them, and I don't want to. I reject their culture, their values (or lack thereof), the mores (or lack thereof), their beliefs, and their worldview. Nor will I permit them to pass their garbage on to my children. I want nothing to do with them. As far as the libbies are concerned, Oliver Cromwell said it best:
"
“this is a righteous judgement of God upon these barbarous wretches, who have imbrued their hands in so much innocent blood....”
And:
“weeds and nettles, briars and thorns, have thriven under your shadow, dissettlement and division, discontentment and dissatisfaction, together with real dangers to the whole.”
And finally:
“you have been sat to long here for any good you have been doing. Depart, I say, and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go!.”

Rich Casebolt | Homepage | 07.03.09 - 5:50 pm |
Rich, I already proved last night that his atheism is as much an act of faith as the religious beliefs of others, since we can't possible know what lies beyond this existence. This puts him on the same intellectual plain as those he denigrates, I correctly pointed out. Boy, did he flop and struggle!
He finally came up with this explanation: He says there's no God because God doesn't manifest Himself in the natural world (Yes, I know, but let it go), which means that there's no God, period, but he's only talking about the natural world, not the supernatural world, but since all he can know is the natural world, that means there is no God in effect, which also means there is no God, period. But only in the natural world. Which is the only world. Therefore there is no God, period. But only in the natural world. Which is the only world, etc., etc., etc.
Got that? Bill Clinton lives!

Blondie, until you can conclusively prove that this life is "all there is" ... or I can conclusively prove that it is not ... ANY position on our status post-death is an act of faith.
It is a fact, that you are as faith-based as I ... the difference is who we put our faith in ... and given a choice between human perception and an omniscient/omnipresent/omnipotent God whose handiwork I see every time this designer looks at a leaf or his own hand ... I think I know where the safe bet is.
You, OTOH, may be the poster boy for Romans 1:22, by your blind adherence to humanist conventional wisdom in thinking that rejecting spiritual worldviews proves your intellectual superiority.

The Blue Dogs can't get a handle on them--they're a runaway train. Hopefully, 2010 and later in 2012 we'll be able to recover a measure of sanity.
As for Sarah, I have a feeling that she is, temporarily at least, going to be withdrawing from the political scene--at least as far as running for office is concerned, and as I said above, I don't blame her. She's stood up to attacks against her and her family that would have had me going on a violent rampage--I couldn't have stood a tenth of the venom that she took with grace and aplomb.
What's truly sad about this is that we've lost someone who could have been a terrific leader. There will be a karmic retribution for this--what goes around does truly come around--and it will be a terrible one.

If something unsavory or illegal is exposed, conservatives will sadly walk away from her.
The current president, on the other hand, is blatantly raiding the treasury to stuff cash into the pockets of his cronies; firing inspector generals who look into his cronies' affairs; demanding that insanely expensive bills be rammed through Congress without being read; proposing legislation that will strip us of our choices in health care; supporting legislation that will enrich his cronies in the fake "green" industry; pushing through bankruptcy settlements that benefit his cronies in the auto-workers' unions; and exempting said union cronies from the life-changing legislation that will lower our standard of living.
He's also broken virtually every promise he made about foreign policy and national security, yet liberals are fighting like rabid dogs to defend him.
Conservatives are better people than liberals. It's as simple as that.

Brad says: "Come on Gateway. Jonah and Charles didn't "attack" her, they offered constructive criticism. She does need to bone up on things."...
This is NOT the first time I've heard the silly, baseless complaint about how Sarah wasn't proficient in one area or the other from these 'country club Republicans'...
Heck! It was the Republican mantra for awhile...
Comparitivly speaking Ms. Palin was probably the most prepared of any of the other three moronic clowns on both tickets...
Could Ms. Palin have had some facets of her campaign worked on?
Oh yeah I'm sure there was some room for improvement but at least she knew that there wasn't 57 states in the union or that the word jobs isn't a 3 letter word...

You finally grasped the plane/plain thing. I didn't want to point it out last night because I'm not utterly pedantic about minor misspellings and errors (believe it or not, I make my own every so often), but since you have voluntarily assumed the mantle of "grammar police" here I thought maybe you'd like to know you're making a very elementary mistake (over and over).
Mr Blonde | 07.03.09 - 6:28 pm |
The difference between men and boys, sonny, is that I've got the balls to admit it when I'm wrong.
You're not constitutionally capable of following in my footsteps. You're too afraid and weak. For example, you can't admit that calling black people monkeys is wrong. You simply can't. You've rationalized it somehow, and you'll stick with it. You can't admit that being an avowed atheist is as much an act of faith as being religious.
Pathetic. You're so rigid and fragile you can't backtrack even a micron. Again, you're only four years old emotionally. Congratulations. A mighty accomplishment.

Okay, here is a conspiracy theory I just cooked up. Sizing up recent changes, here's what we know;
1) Rush is a big Palin fan
2) Rush has been working on something big. He has mentioned many times lately that he worked very late on something big but that he can't talk about it now.
3) Rush has been working on his weight for 3-4 months now. Normally it takes something big to get oneself motivated to lose so much weight.
4) Rush is passionate about conservatism and disappointed in Republicans
5) Palin resigns govenorship early after being mishandled and stabbed in the back by McCain staffers.
so, the theory is that they are plotting some kind of change.
Limbaugh/Palin 2012 "stand aside Obama we're coming through"
or more likely a third party? bankrolled by Rush with Palin as the leader?
not sure, but something is going on, and I wouldn't be shocked if these two were cooking up something.

Nice self-refuting post, idiot. She just resigned from the governorship, in all likelihood torpedoing her chances at national office. Didn't you catch her resignation? Some of her biggest supporters have today written her off.
The only cult is the one of Obama, as I proved above. By the way, since you believe blacks are monkeys, what's with the childish adoration of the president? Makes as much sense as spluttering in impotent rage about the detention of Cynthia McKinney.
This is what I was saying earlier, that you're incapable of engaging in critical thinking. Your own posts are the best argument against your positions.

Blondie, the only reason conservatives would be reluctant to walk away from a corrupt Sarah (if that ever us the case), is because we have been desensitized to such activity by a parade of corrupt politicians -- on BOTH sides of the aisle.

Absolutely! False charges are never thrown at someone for political reasons. Also, one ethics complaint after another being found groundless doesn't prove a damn thing.
You must be a Christian, because you lie like one. Last fall's ethics complaint against the Lovely Sarah was not found groundless. Generally speaking, when it's one after another, and you go to the lengths of forming a legal defense fund, there's a problem.
But, like I say, I do look forward to the blind wingnuts continuing to toot their quitter's horn. It will make the ending to this saga that much sweeter.
By the way, how about that Mark Sanford? He's one of you. Christian Republican lying hypocrite, right out of the playbook. You guys are providing a weekly laugh riot!

You got rid of Palin. There's almost no chance that she'll be president now. But it's making you even more insane.
Most Americans aren't crazy, like you. They're starting to see that when you get your way, it makes you even worse. You destroy someone simply because she disagrees with you, and that makes you even more vicious. Therefore most Americans will come to realize that the only way to control you is to thwart you.
Sarah Palin's demise is important, but not in the way you think. Just wait until she publishes her book and reveals all the details of the campaign to destroy her. When you put what was done to her beside Obama's Chicago-style presidency, we're going to see most Americans--who are decent people, not slobbering freaks like you--repudiate your approach.
It's already beginning, but you're just not smart enough to see it. Good. That'll make your own demise all the sweeter.

Awhile back, I made an analogy of Sarah Palin and Jeanne d'Arc--I think that's a good comparison. Like Jeanne, Sarah was betrayed by those she considered friends and like Jeanne, she has suffered for her beliefs. Unlike Jeanne, though, the modern English (the Democrats) and their Burgundian allies (the Beltway Republicans) weren't satisfied with just burning her at the stake, they had to crucify her children as well. Like the French following Jeanne's real martyrdom, the American people will react forcefully to Sarah's political martyrdom. Obama, the Democrats, and the Left, in their hubris, are about to be brought down--hard.

Hello Senator Al Franken, good-bye wingnut loser Palin!
I'm really loving the right-wing implosion as they try to spin this as a good thing for Palin.

The last time you Dims held the White House and both houses of Congress, how long did their hold on power last?
Two years.
That's because y'all overreached, just as y'all are doing now.
No amount of painting Christians with your broad-brush will cover that up.

Diva Slayer ... so conventional in your thinking.
That is to your detriment ... you assume the political paradigm cannot change, and that the path to power will always be that same, well-worn, dirty path we have seen time and again.
Many of us are waking up to the concept that placing our faith in the processes of the two institutionalized political parties is not serving us well ...
... and that "outsiders" like Sarah Palin, who eschew much of the institutional gaming that is substituted for effective governance by the professional political class, would serve us better as leaders of effective governance.
Y'all are the political equivalent of the old, Big Iron computer industry circa. 1975 ... with those like Sarah Palin now the equivalent of the paradigm-breakers like Jobs and Gates.
Will we carry the day? I don't know.
But the conventional wisdom of institutional poltiics is not serving our nation well ... and continuing in it fits the definition of insanity.
So I think it's certainly worth a shot ... and methinks Sarah does too.

-Tim Geithner - evaded tens of thousands of dollars in income taxes
-Kathleen Sebelius - Doesnt tell the entire truth about her connections to late-term abortionist and has a pay-for-play scandal on the horizon.
-Approaching two dozen waivers for the no-lobbyist pledge in the first two weeks of his presidency.
-Vivek Kundras criminal record.
-Nancy Killefer also has income tax problems.
-Auto czar Steve Rattners alleged involvement in a kickback scheme with a New York pension fund.
-Capricia Penavic Marshall, nominee for chief of protocol for the State Department, did not file tax returns for 2005 and 2006.

And be sure to hold Mr. Obama to the same standard, regarding his predictions of post-alleged-stimulus unemployment levels and not -- in any way -- acting to raise the taxes on those making below $250K.
If Cap and Trade becomes law, that promise will be automatically broken ... but I am sure y'all will say that the increase in energy costs that will result by this revenue-raising act of government are not a "tax".
And that is small, compared to nationalizing health care like he wants to do ... all his talk about competition and "options" notwithstanding.

... all this would be laughable, except that it's all OLD MATERIAL that has been discussed/debated/debunked by reasonable people -- and/or implemented-and-failed by the arrogant when we left the door open for them.

Here's another take on it, from a libertarian friend:
"I have a different read on that speech. I thought she looked manic, perhaps on the edge of a nervous breakdown. It was clear that she had not practiced the speech, and that her staff was unaware of it. Her idea that people are criticizing her Down's baby is a paranoid delusion. (Her slutty daughter is different; not even democrats or talk-show hosts attack Down's babies).
"I don't think she's devising a bizarre strategy to run for president, I think she's struggling with her sanity. Maybe she had a small window when she could deliver any speech at all. The press has spent so much time covering Jacko this week that they don't recognize a crazy lady when she stands up and rants about the evil forces that are out to get her."
To which I say, the prospect of a federal indictment could drive anyone crazy, because once the feds indict you, it's pretty much the end. Every now and then someone will skate, but not too often.
So, when Sarah Baby is led away in chains, blubbering to the cameras about the conspiracy, will her mascara run?!

just a sample:
Rangel
'corrupt democrats'
Laws apply to lawmakers, too
[Democrats facing scrutiny include the chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, John P. Murtha of Pennsylvania, for his close ties to the defense lobby firm PMA Group, which is under federal investigation; House Ways and Means Chairman Charles B. Rangel of New York about a number of tax issues; Rep. Jesse L. Jackson Jr. of Illinois over his reported effort to persuade ousted Illinois Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich to appoint him to fill President Obama's former Senate seat; and Rep. Jane Harman of California, who reportedly was taped in 2005 by the National Security Agency purportedly agreeing to help seek leniency for two accused Israeli spies in exchange for help in lobbying her appointment to chair the House Intelligence Committee.]

Sarah Plain resigned to save Alaska millions of unnecessary expenditures on defending the Governor against a never ending list of false accusations by volunteer Obama truth squads (just as he has & will keep spending millions to keep his past silent, Obama can & will spend millions trying to bring Palin down, as did Soros trying to bring Bush down, the cycle continues, Dems know of no other way to win aside from cheating & blackmail).. by resigning Palin can no longer be blackmailed, at least not on the political level per se.. however, she has been & certainly will remain a major threat to Obama & the Dems, else she would have been long since gone & forgotten..

WHY DID SARAH PALIN QUIT???
Indictments are forthcoming.
There's no way she quits because a blogger made fun of her.
There's no way she quit so she wouldn't be a lame duck, and that's a lame excuse anyway. Every pol becomes a lame duck at some point. You don't just quit after a half term because you might be a lame duck some day.
Rumblings on local Alaska blogs: embezzlement, free lakefront house (stolen materials? no receipts or record of payment for anything...) , suspiciously large endorsements for Todd's snow machine racing team (it ain't exactly NASCAR)
Feds closing in...investigations started under Bush administration...huge scandal just under the surface...
This doesn't seem right because it's not. There's more to this than meets the eye.
And Sarah Palin did not give an actual reason for her resignation. She just quit.
Stay tuned.

@Just the facts, of course this is what's happening. The wingnuts run from facts like a vampire from sunlight. All the better, because when Sarah 'n Todd get led from the courtroom in cuffs, crucifixes, and orange jumpsuits, the whole country will see Republican evangelical Christianity in its full glory.
The Lord works in mysterious ways. Sometimes, he doesn't especially appreciate his followers. Stay tuned indeed!

Did Mr. Blonde switch nicknames, or is it another attention-seeking troll spewing whatever he can come up with in the hopes that angry responses will be directed at him, somehow justifying his existence?
If his fantasy doesn't come true, he'll slink away until he can latch onto a new one. Then continue the premptive gloating, insults, etc. Lather, rinse, repeat.

My advice to Sarah, go rogue, tell the GOP to shove it and start a third party. The time is ripe with all of the disenchanted conservatives, and alot of Democrats are waking up too. This last fiasco in the house with the "cap and take" bill passing with 44 dems opposing it proves the old two party system is just an illusion. They should just combine and call themselves the UN STOOGE PARTY. We've got three years and Sarah is just the person to pull it off.

Obligatory Sarah Palin Resignation Post
[Jeez, the number of theories grows by the hour! Who dares pick now? If there really is an indictment in the offing, I fear that breathless speculation won't nudge it along any faster.
But what I do find genuinely intriguing is what the Palin diehards have been saying. You have, for example, the good people of Conservatives 4 Palin comparing the Alaska governor's resignation to Julius Caesar. And you have Bill Kristol speculating that her gamble could turn out to be quite shrewd. This strikes me as sociologically interesting. If her resignation -- which was a really a halting ramblefest -- doesn't shake the faith, what will?]
thought this was quite a profound
way of viewing what is happening
[In any case, Palin has crossed the Rubicon and made her stand clear. She gave us a hint before when she said "Politically, if I die, I die." I think this was her equivalent of alea iacta est. She will now be the anti-Obama, standing up for her personal beliefs, free of the constraints the Alaskan people have placed on her. She is now free of them, and they of her - though I think they will be the ones to regret it first.]

JTFW -- as I said on the other Palin thread, those are derivatives of old, moldy rumors started by those who can't win on principle.
We smell your, and the parrot's, fear ... the fear that you will no longer be able to influence policy and hold on to your hedonistic theocracy-of-the-self, once the actions of Ms. Palin and others restore principle to its proper place of value in our civic discourse.
