Exactly right. Polls already show that this issue has backfired, which is why Obama doesn't want to push it.
But Holder is even more clueless and arrogant that Obama. He's like a cheesy, low-rent version of his boss. Let's hope he goes ahead with it to "assert his independence" like a spoiled child.
If the AG wants to be independent of the president, he or she should resign. The good news is since Obama appoints only people similar in temperament to himself, all these clowns can only screw up over and over and over.
Bring on the investigation.

What attacks? Do y'all not understand that since Obama entered office, all the radical Islamofascists have gone home to their goat herds and are now peaceful citizens of some thriving, and properous, Islamic nation?
They don't hold his clueless foreign policy against him, like giving a speech in Egypt trying to pander to the Iranians. Never mind that Iran hates Egypt because they gave sanctuary to the Shah. Obama has the touch, and all nations are almost ready to break out in one, unified chorus of Kumbaya.
And btw, the Obama administration did another document dump late Friday evening that pretty well vidicates Bush's Presidential Security Program.

Did you see this?
Obama Frees Iranian Terror Masters
There are a few things you need to know about President Obama’s shameful release on Thursday of the “Irbil Five” — Quds Force commanders from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) who were coordinating terrorist attacks in Iraq that have killed hundreds — yes, hundreds — of American soldiers and Marines...
Michael Ledeen has reported that the release of the Irbil Five is part of the price Iran has demanded for its release in May of the freelance journalist Roxana Saberi. Again, that’s only part of the price: Iran also has demanded the release of hundreds of its other terror facilitators in our custody. Expect to see Obama accommodate this demand, too, in the weeks ahead...
What you need to know is that Barack Obama is a wolf in “pragmatist” clothing: Beneath the easy smile and above-it-all manner — the “neutral” doing his best to weigh competing claims — is a radical leftist wedded to a Manichean vision that depicts American imperialism as the primary evil in the world...
[His] default position is that tyrants are preferable as long as they are anti-American, and that while terrorist methods may be regrettable, their root cause is always American provocation — that is, the terrorists have a point.

I will not be surprised if we don't get attacked again. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't 9/11. And this time, I bet it won't be on the east coast . . . I bet it would be on the west coast. Both LA and Seattle have been on hit lists in the past so it could be either one of them. And since I have loved ones living in both cities, I can tell you I would not take it well.
I think it would not be good for BO because he has made a big deal about placating Moslems. After living in relative safety for 8 years, the citizens of this country would not take BO allowing this to happen. He was handed a secure country. He and his minions have damaged our security.
Personally, I would like to see BO and his administration have to face an impeachment trial if we get attacked again. His oath says to "preserve and protect". His actions are doing neither.

I have to say I still haven't gotten over that BO was wrong about when he met MO. I think it has to be for one of 2 reasons:
1. He just downright lied about something to a group when it really wouldn't matter . . . which means he may very well be a psychopathic liar. Not good;
or
2. He really doesn't give a rip about her. Maybe never did. Maybe she is just window dressing. I have yet to meet a man who didn't remember when he met his wife. Maybe Larry Sinclair wasn't lying after all. I always thought he was.

Pat,
I always felt (without knowing, of course) that MO was the wife that he needed to give him credibility. Especially among his constituents, and his black muslims friends here in the U.S. She's not a light-bright, damn-near-white like Halle Barry. She is a full-fledged, dark-skinned black woman. AND she's angry.
I followed a link someone posted in another thread. It was an excerpt out of "Dreams of My Father". In it, Obama was describing the friends he hung around. He admitted that they were specifically chosen by him, to add to his "image".
I couldn't believe that he would proudly write that in his book. Well....yes I could. A NORMAL person would see that as a problem, an integrity and character question.
He thought it was cool.
The body chemisty between MO and BO...I don't see it. IMO, he tolerates her, and she feels that she is "lucky" that he chose her.
Tom posted a very telling picture of those two before...I just looked for it and can't find it.

My Mom's parents were married for 72 years. (Yes, my family live a very long time.) She had Parkinson's so her last 2 years were in a nursing home. He spent every single minute that he could with her. She was 92. He died 6 years later at the age of 2 months short of 101. All he wanted to do was go be with her. Both very active and strong Christians. My Grandfather was a minister.
My Mom and Dad are both very active still. Dad works in his wood shop every day. Keeping as active as possible keeps you alive. And I am pretty sure that they would tell you "forgiveness" played a very big part of their marriage.

From NYT 4/19/2009
The C.I.A. officers used waterboarding at least 83 times in August 2002 against Abu Zubaydah, according to a 2005 Justice Department legal memorandum. Abu Zubaydah has been described as al Qaeda operative.
A former C.I.A. officer, John Kiriakou (whom you referred to), told ABC News and other news media organizations in 2007 that Abu Zubaydah had undergone waterboarding for only 35 seconds before agreeing to tell everything he knew."
http://www.newsweek.com/id/195089
The FBI interrogator, Soufan, said that they recovered the information that led to KSM before the torture began.
"We were able to get the information about Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in a couple of days. We didn't have to do any of this [torture]. We could have done this the right way."
Why just focus on three that were waterboarded? Why not mention those that have died as a result of interrogations?
http://www.thedailybeast.com/blo...tured-to-death/
Ever read the report on detainee deaths?
http://www.humanrightsfirst.org/command
Interesting that it doesn't trouble you that techniques that are used “to teach American pilots and soldiers how to resist a variety of torture methods that might be used against them by captors seeking false confessions for propaganda purposes," were then used on detainees in our custody who then confessed to plots, that from what I read, sent us out on a lot of false leads.
http://www.thenational.ae/articl...4239994/-1/
NEWS
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp...ml?
nav=hcmodule
"We spent millions of dollars chasing false alarms," one former intelligence official said.
And I've also wondered, if the waterboarding was so effective as Kiriakou implies, why did the CIA destroy 90 of the 92 videos that showed his interrogation? Seems that would shut down the argument on whether it was effective or not. 90 videos for 35 seconds of waterboarding?
Why are you so concerned with whether this will damage the former adminstration and not concerned with finding out the truth?
Did you catch the article by the interrogator that recovered the information that led to the killing of Zarqawi, leader of al Qaida in Iraq?
http://www.washingtonpost.com/
wp...id=opinionsbox1
"I personally conducted more than 300 interrogations, and I supervised more than 1,000. The methods my team used are not classified (they're listed in the unclassified Field Manual), but the way we used them was, I like to think, unique."
"I learned in Iraq that the No. 1 reason foreign fighters flocked there to fight were the abuses carried out at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo. Our policy of torture was directly and swiftly recruiting fighters for al-Qaeda in Iraq. The large majority of suicide bombings in Iraq are still carried out by these foreigners. They are also involved in most of the attacks on U.S. and coalition forces in Iraq. It's no exaggeration to say that at least half of our losses and casualties in that country have come at the hands of foreigners who joined the fray because of our program of detainee abuse."
"Murderers like Zarqawi can kill us, but they can't force us to change who we are. We can only do that to ourselves."
So only three top people were waterboarded? You really believe that was the extent of what happened?

Bruce | 07.12.09 - 12:38 am | #
Everyone has health care now. You don't see people falling over dead on street corners or walking around with untreated broken bones and gunshot wounds because our laws dictate that hospital emergency rooms must treat life-threatening emergencies. Non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries are treated at free clinics or at govt-funded clinics where the patient pays what they can afford to pay, based on a sliding-scale fee schedule.
All that socialized health care will do is reduce the quality of care for those who are currently insured or have the money see the doctors they want to see when they want to see them to the care that the indigent currently receive, which is what I described above.

That is their decision. Besides, what is better . . . paying for mandated, rationed health care like they have in Canada and UK or being without health care that isn't rationed. In case you didn't know this, most hospitals and doctors will still treat you without insurance if you are in trauma. Most of the time the state picks up the slack.
I happen to know a very small, little girl who was diagnosed about 18 months ago with almost complete renal failure. She recently had a kidney transplant. Without it, even with dialysis, she wouldn't survive for much longer. Fortunately, her mother was a match. She is now living a normal, kid's life. The surgery cost over a $1M. Her surgery was paid for by her insurance and from a foundation connected with the children's hospital.
Rationed health care in Canada or UK . . . she would still have to endure 11 hours of dialysis every single day which was slowly damaging her heart. She may not have survived.
So, no thank you. I would rather have no health care and put myself into deep debt than rationed health care. If you don't think that older people would have no chance to survive any illness under rationed health care, you are crazy.

About when Barack met Michelle:
From Wikipedia: Obama entered Harvard Law School in late 1988
She obtained her Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from Harvard Law School in 1988
Wikipedia
Same year.
BUT - from a Gale Women's History site, they apparently met at the law firm:
_____
When she graduated from HLS in 1988, she was hired by the high-paying Chicago corporate law firm Sidley Austin . . .
She eventually passed [the bar] and was admitted to the bar in May 1989, almost a year after graduation.
After graduating from Harvard, Robinson joined the large, prestigious Chicago corporate-law firm of Sidley & Austin. Barack Obama, a Harvard Law student, joined the firm as an intern in 1988 and Robinson was charged with mentoring him.
She told Ebony in February of 2007: "I was skeptical at first; everyone was raving about this smart, attractive, young first-year associate they recruited from Harvard. Everyone was like, 'Oh, he's brilliant, he's amazing and he's attractive.' I said, 'Okay, this is probably just a Brother who can talk straight.'"
She told West: "I was more focused on my plan. I had made this proclamation to my mother the summer I met Barack, 'I'm not worrying about dating...I'm going to focus on me.'"
Robinson married Obama in 1992, after traveling to Kenya to meet his family. That same year, Michelle Obama moved to the city's office of planning and development as an assistant commissioner.

So only three top people were waterboarded? You really believe that was the extent of what happened?
Jeremy | 07.12.09 - 12:48 am |
Don't care. It is only AQ thugs. And one of them spilled the beans about an attack that was planned for LA.
Let me ask you something . . . what came first . . . 1993 World Center bombing or waterboarding . . . 2 US Embassies bombed in Africa or waterboarding . . . attack on USS Cole or waterboarding . . . 9/11 or waterboarding??????
AQ is evil. We did nothing to cause their recruitment for all those years, but they were still recruiting. Consequence . . . 3,000 people killed on 9/11.
So, who do you care about . . . AQ or your fellow US citizens who died on 9/11? Think about it. Be careful where your sympathies lie.

You bozo. Why do you let people with agendas lead you around by the nose, like you're only three years old?
The "83 times" refers to the number of times water was poured on Abu Zubaydah's face. It wasn't 83 separate sessions.
People are trying to trick you, and you're letting them. Why?

Tom: If you had read my post or my links you would have seen that no where did I say there were 83 separate sessions. Why are you trying to refute a straw man?
My point is that everyone is focused on the treatment of three individuals, when dozens of detainees died as a result of their treatment while in our custody.
Pat: I despise suffering whomever it may afflict, I just don't believe that everyone detained is necessarily part of AQ. What have you read that makes you believe that everyone detained is an "AQ thug?"
I'm no fan of Obama or Holder, I just believe the Bush administration made many terrible choices while prosecuting the war on terror and ought to be held responsible for diminishing our credibility and weakening our position as defenders of human rights.

Here's what the article says, sweetheart:
The C.I.A. officers used waterboarding at least 83 times in August 2002 against Abu Zubaydah, according to a 2005 Justice Department legal memorandum. Abu Zubaydah has been described as al Qaeda operative.
You know as well as I do that it was written to give the impression that he underwent 83 separate sessions.
My point is that everyone is focused on the treatment of three individuals, when dozens of detainees died as a result of their treatment while in our custody.
Nope. Didn't happen. As I said before, you're totally credulous. You're quoting articles written by people with agendas, but you're too ignorant or blinded by whatever motivates you to know it.
"Matthew Alexander" has a book to sell, paid lectures to give, TV appearances to make. He takes credit for getting the information that led to Zarqawi's death, when in reality it was a massive team effort.
The fact that you instantly believe what someone tells you and make no effort to read other sources tells me that you are, indeed, a bozo.

How many died in the many riots and attempted breakouts? How many died because of insurgent attacks? That article is from 2005. How about something up to date?
"The Army has concluded that 27 of the detainees who died in US custody in Iraq or Afghanistan since 2002 were the victims of homicide or suspected homicide, military officials said in a report released yesterday."
Do you know the definition of homicide? It means killing by another person. In your own article they explained that at least two of the killings were of prisoners whose actions seemed threatening.
Here's what you said:
My point is that everyone is focused on the treatment of three individuals, when dozens of detainees died as a result of their treatment while in our custody.

Oh the world is changing, and it is sweet. Universal health care is on the way, and nothing you can do will stop it. You will spend the next 50 years trying to dismantle it to no avail, just like you've been trying to dismantle Social Security since the 1930s. The energy bill will change the planet and the US for the better, and there's nothing you can do about it. You hear us? NOTHING!!!!
HA HA HA HA HA!!!
We love it that you love Sarah Palin. Please please please nominate her for President in 2012. Nothing will ensure another four years of progress than that. Oh sure, at some point, another Republican will get elected (2020?). No majority lasts forever (Mr. Rove). But that person will not be able to undo the progress that the Obama administration will have set in stone. Social Security and Civil Rights are now a fait accompli, and though idiots still try to attack them at the fringes, they aren't going anywhere. The same will happen with all the Obama programs. Your greatest fears are being realized: a new world order is at hand!
And by the way, your numbers will keep dwindling. You are 19% of the population right now, but demographics are not on your side. Soon, white people will be a minority. Our increasingly numerous Black and Hispanic brethren and our growing urban centers will ensure your voices will continue to be marginalized until some day in the not-so-distant future they will be extinguished, just as backward, reactionary, pseudo-christian redneck zealotry always is.

"Our increasingly numerous Black and Hispanic brethren and our growing urban centers..."
I would refrain from counting those chickens before they hatch, Comrade. We rednecks conquered most of the known world when we comprised a far smaller percentage of the population. Cortez conquered Mexico with 150 men, all of them smarter and better trained than those they faced. Charles Martel held back the raging Turks, an outnumbered and undersupplied Julius Caesar defeated the Gauls in their own homeland, and a few hundred Voortrekkers defeated 10's of thousands of Zulu at Blood River. We are the same people today, but with a veneer of tolerance that is starting to wear thin.

Mr. 58% forgets that the prototypes for his "European-style world" exist -- and continue to exist -- only because of the umbrella of American military force, deployed/applied according to conservative principles, that protects them at virtually no cost to them.
If his new world order is realized, that umbrella will fold up ... leaving Europe -- and all who follow them in this alleged "new world order" -- open to the Russian Bear and Islamic Wolves to feast upon.
That is, if the hollow intellectual shell of Mr. 58%'s society doesn't collapse first, as more and more of his assumed support realizes that his approach to human interaction is a fool's errand, and returns to the sound principles of human interaction that this nation was founded upon.;
And BTW, we "pseudo" Christians have survived for around 2000 years ... good luck trying to eradicate us. Not to mention, we've read the ending of the story ... and we win.

We've been thinking the same about the president,he has spent more money on trips with family members and night outs that would feed alot of Ameican Citizen and their schooling for the kids and the expensive taste they have is down right selfish. No I DON'T believe OBAMA GIVES A TOOT ABOUT THE REAL CITIZENS. ALL HE CARES ABOUT IS TAXES TO GO TO AFRICA AND OTHER COUNTRYS FOR ABORATION and the Illegals.-MUSLIM. He talked about helping the colleage students and schools-getting great teachers getting away from over seas oil and alot more ,but do are wealthy care and we made these stars rich as long as he don't raise their taxes. they all they need to feel what the middle class people get.Nobody really knows where this person came from or whom he is really is for not us.It looks like. He bowed to a saudi arbra king and didn't too the Queen he was looking at another womens behind and all the nbc cnn today cbs and a few others never tell the truth about him and his plans they sugar coat everything look at the flag pin he didn't want to wear it because he didn't want to take sides. He thinks our National Anthem is morbid, how maney times have you heard our pledge or song at any games or school activties anymore . yes we're mad at the way he just let illegals into our California and other places too gave them everything free we have so many people from different countrys with out background checks and our taxes are going to them . how do you tax people when there arent' many jobs any more No we don't think this health care plan is going to work because if you have an hmo they'll more than likely raise our copay for seeing the doctors and pills. did you know the black panthers are on the governments payroll too, seen them on t.v. blocking people from voting isn't that great. you know were not racesit, but were begining to wonder if the government is. they sure seem to working for themself and others.Really wonder if the campagin wasn't regged, but think with our government maybe.we shouldn't have to pay for anyones vacations or transportatios to work or any where only the presidents and vp trips on business and wages for all but they aslo should conserve on spending they should pay for their own personel thing not us. Government takes too much of our money that could be helping this country and hospitals nureses and so much more.get rid of the illegals .now and bring home our National gaurd to proptect our borders, write to the president house speaker babara boxer -fienstine-and everyone you can shows papers if we as American Citizens don't stand up and let them know they are RUNNING US INTO THE GROUND is that what there doing.Let get these jokers out. they are not working for us. tHEY TALKING TO DIFFERENT COUNTRYS IS GREAT BUT STOP GIVING OUR MONEY TO THEM BUILD OUR STATE BACK UP oBAMA PRAISES ALL OTHER COUNTRYS AND RUNS US DOWN,WHAT KIND OF PERSON IS HE. TILL HE DOES SOMETHING LIKE Jfk reagan roosevelt and abe did then maybe after he is gone he might get his picture till then NOHe should never be compared with JFK ROOSEVELT-ABE- THEY DIDN'T ALL THE TECHNONOLGY TODAY,Obama doesn't have to go over seas he can use our satellit technonolgy. our EEnglish language should be our national lanugage he with biden-clinton and few others voted it down now there trying to remove in God we trust. Tiger woods really made a great speech on obama inauguration and not very many channels talked about it because it wasn't about Obama's,thats whats wrong with this president he didn't get hasseled enough over the things he said and his wife and paster. He would not be in office today if he couldn't prove where he was really born. nobody seems to have any paper workof the college or unvesities he supposedly went too.Do we dilike him no we just think he wasn't check out enough because the rich wanted him, they shouldn't of put Mc Cain aganist him thats way we believe it was set up.

FOLKS,if all americans don't start writing to every offical with their concern of the spending of the Obama and letting everyone in our country with out speaking our language and having job skills and swearing in on our bible No other, and paying their way and no subsidizing, besides making babies for others to support and draining all our systems that our being taken away from our older Citizens,is a darn right crime,we don't have anyone in our government that is for the real American Citizens they have taken our jobs away so other countries will reap the benefits from them and we will have nothing here we can't even have our farmers grow our vegetables or have people raise our beef-chicken or what ever here in the U.S.A.what kind of jobs do we get here welfare jobs-social service- human resource-what about contractors with fixing briges homesand so fouth with out English and lic to know what to do and if it's right. Our President didn't want to wear the flag pin he said he didn't want to take sides and how many times do we hear our pledge said or our National Anthem at schools or games or at and convention any more he said our song was morbid,he didn't hear Kate Smith sing it. The Obama and the reat of his government spend to much of our money on themselves and over seas and to all these loan companys and congress cutting raises and bonuses that no body should get till we get china off our back and this great America on its feet. you don't raise Taxes on a country that don't have people working and even then it's best to keep it down for competion. Maybe if all the Rich and very wealthy would give up some of their money for the U.S and stop sending their money over seas and put it into our baanks and investors and start adopting children here maybe we'd get our state back on its feet after all we helpped make these people rich and it would be nice to have our military respected form all this Government give them the beds and food the marines get wether here or over seas they are in danger as long as Obama lets Muslim into our country that hate them. god blees us all and our troops.I REALLY PRAY THE BLACKS WILL BE WITH US ON THIS BECAUSE WE HAVE WORKED TOGETHER BEFORE OBAMA CAME INTO THE PICTURE AND WE HAVE HELPPED THEM OUT ALOT .
