You are right. They also need to feel that they are part of something that their peers view as 'cool'.
They can't think for themselves or stand on their own. They lack an understanding of basic economics and Am. government therefore are easily duped. They are foolish enough to trust the ruling majority of politicians now. They are incapable of analyzing what is happening apart from their feelings and wishful thinking. They are unequipped to think through the long term effects of BO's agenda.
I could take Cantor a little more serious if he hadn't voted for Bush's 700 billion and of course he voted to tax AIG Executives bonus's at 90 percent. So the reality is he is part of the problem not part of the solution which to me is really sad because I had high hopes for this particular Republican, as it turns out that is all he is a Republican. I would like to fill the Congressional seats with small government Conservatives who just happen to have the R after their name because we are locked into a two party sytem instead of a D'lite who has a R after his name because we have two party system.
I will give him utmost credit for seeing the writing on the wall and standing with the Conservative wing of the Republican's since Obama's election except for the AIG moment of insanity.
