Gravatar Congratulations!

500 is a momentous milestone. I am proud to call you friend, brother, and fellow golf-fiend.

That being said, I am soooooo jealous that you got to spend a day in a more productive environment than the office. What's the old saying? "A bad day on the links is better than the best day in the office!"

Gravatar Thanks Cary. Friends are an interesting side benefit to blogging, and I've made some good ones. But the cool thing is meeting face to face. I think you were the second I met, right after meeting and playing golf with Bushwhack.

the other pals I've met are Doug (Political Pistachio), Paul (a Prying One), and Jenn, Jenn, Jenn of the Jungle.

I look forward to meeting these folks face to face:
Gunny John (though we've talked many times on the phone)
His Sister Sues (same)
03 Grunt (you know who you are)
Kris (looking forward to Mexican food)
Shane from Political Vindication, and Craig (the Bleeding Onion who painted the CH-46s)

Bro Dave if he ever goes west is here too.

Gravatar Quite the list - and happy to be on it.

I've met Doug from the pistachiao, and also Greybeard from Pitchpull - his son is attending college here, and GB and his wife get out here now and again. I'd love to be able to meet with the rest of your list, too. We'll see what happens!

Gravatar Um Yes I'm just a little JEALOUS!

Good fer ya Gawfer, glad you could be there, keep them guys honest will ya?

Gravatar Hey Rob,

Glad to see you on board! I thought of you yesterday when I was a guest of a corporate sponsor at the south village Hospitality tents; Anheuser was just a couple of tents down from ours... near the green of #1.

Gravatar Hey Gawfer - I got a break from working with my bookstore and thought I'd go blog hopping glad I stopped by your 500th posting.

Congratulations and keep on posting.

I'll try to get by more often. God bless I'll catch you later.

PS - Why didn't they have you playing?

Gravatar Thanks for stopping by Paul, I just commented that you are one of the good guys I've met!

They don't let schmoes play in those high dollar tourneys.

And I'll accept that blessing for sure!

Gravatar Wow. 500. Where does the time go?

Looks like you had a beautiful day!

Congrats, and God Bless you! You are a treasure!

Gravatar Great pics, I got to play that course back in '94, it was awesome... 500 huh?? Rookie...

Seriously, congrats man, ya done good!!

Gravatar thanks Fred. Not bad for just a hobbyist, eh?

And a tip of the het to you for getting me started.

OORAH!

Gravatar 614...That's a long damned hole!

Great pics bro. That rough looks absolutely brutal. Looks like you had a good time though; you must have been chomping at the bit to play it though, right?

Fantastic post, my friend.

Gravatar John,

The rough was suprisingly mild. the first cut was only about 1 1/2" with the primary about 4". I think they're looking for the overall length and adverse weather to be the test this year. the greens looked very fast on Wednesday as well... maybe 12-13 stimp.

Walking the course with a friend, I mentioned a couple of times I need to play it.

We'll see.

Gravatar I can see Gawfer now standing around there with a golf club, looking both cool and serious and trying to fool people into asking for an autograph...

Gravatar 614 yards - for me, that's a drive, a drive, a drive, a drive, a chip, a wedge out of the sand, a chip back to the front of the green after blowing over it with the wedge, a putt, a putt, a putt, a putt, and a pickup.

Put me down for 12.

Maybe I'll stick with watching NASCAR.

Gravatar Just 12 cary? Dang! Yer good! I'd go with a 38 or so, IF I was lucky. LMAO

Gravatar Well Cary, if you'd have taken a ten, I'd call ya for 'Improving your lie'.

Gravatar Kate - I'm not sure, since I haven't seen the hole, but I'm hoping there was no trees or water nearby.

I always manage to find those with my tee shots or fairway lies.

If there WERE trees/water nearby, then add four or five to the count.

I have it on good authority that the drive from tee to fairway is about 220 by itself, so it would be: Tee shot, rough shot, rough shot, fairway drive, fairway drive, short iron, chip shot, sand wedge, chip shot back to the front, sand wedge back out of the trap again, putt, putt, putt, putt, kick, throw, dump clubs in nearest water hazard, call for next morning's tee time.

Make it a 16.

Gravatar Gawf - if I could have made that in ten, I would sign up for the pro-am.

Gravatar They have enough caddies already, Cary

Gravatar Hyuk, hyuk, hyuk - and as long as Bill Murray is there, you can keep the humor to yourself!

Gravatar They got water boys in golf?

Gravatar Well prying1, we could always sign up to drive around the "refreshment cart". Heh.

Gravatar Long as we don't drink up the profits...

Gravatar That's a real nice post, Gawfer. Congrats on 500!!

Gravatar Thanks Professor Douglas!

Gravatar Congrats on the 500, friend Gawfer! And a wish for a million more!

Gravatar Thank you, Wit.

It's a treat to see you on board!

Gravatar (careful, wit - he's a sailor. he says that to all the girls...)

Gravatar What a milestone that one of the best blogs on the internet has reached! It is an honour and a genuine pleasure to know you, Gawfer. Thank you for sharing with your readers.

It's even better that you were able to get out on the links. I see it now...the U.S. Open......with Gawfer, JJ, Cary, Gunz, Robert..........and Bob.

Gravatar Congrats on a GREAT blog!

Okay; WHOSE hog is that and why is it parked THERE??
