Musings from the Bar Stools

Even Mayor Barrett wants the Final Four held there. Riiiight. He make speak seriously, but nobody takes him seriously.

As I've said before, I hate indoor baseball. However, in a fluke weather year like this (mid-April snow), the roof does come in handy. I know I'm being a bit picky but I wish they had built it more like Safeco Field in Seattle. When the roof is open there it looks and feels more like an outdoor park. Miller Park is nice but could be nicer. And it still bothers me when it's 60 degrees and dry outside and they keep the roof closed.

They didn't do it right. They forgot the Beer Barrel!

Having frozen in County Stadium all those years, I say that the dome pays for itself every year in April, May and September. It is essential to draw people from any other part of the state other than the 5 county area which is paying for it because a family can make plans and not have them screwed up by the weather. One last thing: I thought of this while sitting in Section 25 Row 26 Seat 21 of County Stadium in 1982 during an interminable rain delay of a play-off or Series game.(I forget which but the Badgers shut out Ohio State 3-0 in Columbus on the same day) After a certain point in October, you can't play baseball outside any more in Milwaukee until Spring. If we have play-off aspirations, a dome is vital since the Series could go almost to November now.
