Musings from the Bar Stools

Even if your guess is right, it wouldn't mean you can see into the future. How about instead we call you a ridiculous doomsayer and a b-grade fan either way?

A piece of unrelated good news for everyone. Mark Cuban is out of the running to buy the Cubs.

You realize the Brewers still have a 3 game lead on a playoff spot, right?

I thought you were going to the woods, bro.

If I had told you in March that the Brewers would hold a 3-game lead in the wildcard race on the morning of Sept. 12, everyone would have taken it.

The Dodgers lost 8 in a row 2 weeks ago and are now in first place.

They'll pull out of it.

Right now, only two teams in the NL are playing like they want to see October, Philadelphia and Houston. Two others have to get in, one from the Central and a wild card. I can't remember seeing a September with playoffs on the line and contending teams play with less urgency.

As Yogi Berra once said: "It ain't over till it's over."

Choke. It's the Real Thing

Yep, there's a three-game lead. Here's why it in't likely to hold up.

Braun isn't healthy.
Nobody else is hitting (exception of Hardy)
Starting pitching isn't performing well.

These trendlines are all heading the wrong way.

trendlines in baseball can change direction dramatically over short periods of time.

Health can't, particularly an injury like Braun's.

That would be New Choke; the Cubs do hold the patent for Choke Classic.

Hah!

I wonder how the formula might be different

Not that you care Steve but your blog is hard to read.

Two others have to get in, one from the Central ...

Correction ... one from the West and a wild card.

Somehow I put Houaton in the Western Division, where it was for years.

You're right; I don't care too much.

Seriously, what's your browser/OS combo, and what screen resolution are you using? I'll see if I can whip up an easier-to-read template for you this weekend.

understood.

I was mostly considering organization. blog rolls in alpahbetical order, cleaner interface, less is more, that kind of thing.

Order is good. Thanks for considering.

I've got too large a blogroll for a strict alphabetical order; the Bar would be too far down.

I've tried to balance things out between too much information and stuff I really want to have up. I wish I could please everybody, but you know what they say about that.
