Musings from the Bar Stools

I am holding on to one nugget of hope. They need to be hot going into the play offs if they want to go the World Series. If they can get the ship turned around on this trip, it just might get the ball rolling into October for them.

Here's another nugget of hope:

Branyan getting closer: Third baseman Russell Branyan, on the disabled list with a strained oblique since Aug. 12, ran bases and took grounders before Wednesday’s game and said he is feeling much better.

He goes to Phoenix on Friday to continue his rehabilitation and take swings, which will be a real test for him because of where the injury is.

“I’ll play all out and if I can get through that, I should be fine,” Branyan said.

I'm really interested to see what happens with Branyan. Rumor has it he had sort of a Reggie White (sans religion) thing where he just suddenly felt better something like 10-12 days ago and started working out.

The whole thing is so incredibly odd.
