Thank you so much for this post - I did know about using a blank index file but it had not occurred to me to use it in Wordpress subdirectories.

Thank you for visiting and for your comment. Sometimes it's the most obvious that we often overlook.
The index file also needs to be included in subdirectories eg for our images.
