Gravatar Powerful. Sick.

Enraging.

You should see three blocks from my comfy home in L.A. to the parks and stoplights where our vets hangout. There are abandoned wheelchairs that are carted away by cops and when these guys come back after begging and wandering in a limping, sweating, humiliating daze their shit is gone.

We incarcerate more than any other nation on the planet earth. It is a fact that one in twenty men will spend time in prison during at least one point in their lifetime. FACT.

The craziest and most disconcerting thing about the places around L.A. known for all of the homeless vets who are mostly mentally ill and/or hooked on drugs/alcohol is that I'm suddenly seeing the faces of babies. 18-30 year olds from Iraq who are simply fucked.

They joined for money or in some cases to avenge 9/11 but that's not so much the reason around these parts.. and they are limbless and addicted and there have been several times when I have seen these kids screaming on corners at no one and everyone and we all just drive by in our S.U.V.s. looking the other way because it's so disconcerting and such a horrific reminder of what we are doing that rubbernecking is out of the question. It's an abominiation.

Where are their families, wives, children? I don't know who these people are but ironically the main park for the vets is about two blocks away from the corner of Hollywood and La Brea where there is a HUGE sign right behind BK that advertises its recruiting office for all those who are illegal and promises them and their families citizenship if they just sign up and head on over to murder, rampage, be maimed, killed and lose their grip on what it is to be human.

I would love to take my video camera down to that area and make a documentary. A lot of these young Iraq vets don't speak English. Gee, I wonder why they joined.

Gravatar I get it! Vote Libertarian!

Gravatar Sphinx, You're a good soul.

Nate, Like the new cover much better than the previos one with the Bush pic. It creeped me out a little, but then again he DOES creep me out.

Gravatar Wow, just wow. This is a stunning song/video. Thanks so much for posting this.

Gravatar This song moved me so much, I've now watched it 5 times. It's one of those songs that takes your attention and doesn't let go. The pictures with the music are a perfect compliment. Pete, a job well done.

Gravatar Nate,

Melancholy and anger. Only because James is a great singer but his lyrics are so sad.

Gravatar Gratz on the pickup from C&L, Nate

Gravatar I listen to this song regularly on KUT in Austin Texas. I've loved it since the first time I heard it. Everyone should take this song to their country music stations (only genre of commercial radio I can see actually playing it) and request it over and over and OVER! It reminds me of my Democratic roots in a southermn mill town. Also take a look at Tommy Moore's Dem run for Governor in S. Carolina. He's running as a "MILL TOWN DEMOCRAT." He was my neighbor and finally a Dem is running as a WORKING MAN again.

Gravatar Great Work... Keep em Coming

Gravatar InYourFaceRadio.net has been playing John McMurthry's "We Can't Make It Here Anymore" for months and the feed back is incredible. We're giving the voiceless a voice ... especially, musicians like John and and many other Indie Political musicians with a message. There's hundred out there. Steve Earle .. Art Edwards.
Keep up the good work you guys. Each one, teach one!
GIVE IT A VOICE!!

Gravatar Fantastic. Even as a foreign type, that is powerful and resonant.

Gravatar That was powerful. And very clarifying.
