There is an echo in this country that I feel is the one thing that has crippled it. 9/11 caused the world NOT to stop or change or anything. It caused Americans to stop. To close themselves off even further from the world. To hide in a casement of more of the same and not learn from the tragedy (even perhaps in the literary sense) and instead lash out and act like some overgrown victim and divided this country not the world. Since the inept handling of this "new era" by one of the most inept leaders known to man we have, as a nation, let slip the terrorist of all terrorists out of our grasp and sent her reeling atop the world. What changed is how we handle and accept the fact that it is we that is considered the number one threat in the world. Not an ideology. America. Whoever is responsible for 9/11 hasn't a thing on our own complicity. Can't even hold a candle to it... Sad. But oh so true.
