Gravatar How sad that we wll lose an historic building with all the grace and elegance of another age.

Gravatar I'm still in shock that they covered that beautiful building with the nasty metal stuff. It is sad too. I hope the spot gets a nice park or something beautiful. :)

Gravatar What building is this anyway?

Back in the day I worked in another historical building in Great Falls that is no longer around. The old YMCA building. I think it is a Hardees now (or was at one time). The YMCA building was very cool - too bad there was no longer a use for it.

Gravatar Hmm. I heard a rumor they were going to try to stabilize it and rebuild inside the shell of the old building.
Sue, it has been B & B loan and rental for years. Originally it was a bank, I believe.
I remember the old YMCA building too. They tore it down and did, in fact, build a Hardees there.

Gravatar Maybe I'm twisted . . . . . OK, I'm not twisted . . . . . I'm loony like a shithouse rat . . . . but I kind of like ratted out old buildings like that. I still get a kick out of cruising around the back streets in old uptown Butte and looking at the dilapidated leftovers of a bygone era. Here in Billings, they've renovated (aka - yuppified) the hostoric district into something of a . . . . well . . . . I probably shouldn't talk about it with ladies present.

Now we've got the upper crust of society tripping over the winos passed out on the sidewalks in their effort to get into trendy overpriced restaurants, bars, and art galleries. Something just seems fundamentally wrong about that, to me anyway . . . I don't know why but I just don't like it.
