i sent a link of your earlier post about the ocf to a friend to try and explain it to her. then i found this post. i started going to the fair in 1999 or 2000(i forget) and have been back every year. now that i have a family with small children(3 & 6)i have a different perspective. i do think it has become much more "family friendly" with more kid's activities, but i liked your description of it being "bureaucratic". i have friends that have booths there, but never discussed the "business" end of it with them.
we went this year (on sunday) and enjoyed all of it! my kids love it! and my wife dressed up in her firefly costume.

Armando, I definitely think that the faire is much more accessible to families now. I don't want to be one of those people who doesn't appreciate change or who doesn't see the benefit of change. In addition to being much more family-friendly, it's also a lot easier to walk around now because of the added space.

Still... I miss the days when everyone was waving their freak flag. The fireflies are some of my favorites! I think next year I'll go as a burlesque butterfly.
