I suspect the fact that your life is full of exciting new experiences has more to do with the feeling that you have little to say about federal politics at the moment.
Don't worry - there's plenty to say, the political wave is cresting, Rudd & Co are beginning to show their 'imperial' side. Even the Speaker of the House has been forced to take his role seriously in the last few days.
Remember that old adage about power and corruption. We'll all probably have cause for outrage before the next election.

bluemilk, friends did keep saying to me "you know you can buy them ready-made?" to which i kept airily responding, "ah, but i want my child to appreciate the joy of doing things yourself! of making art from recyclables! of making something totally original and individual! no off-the-rack pinata for us!"
and then, after the fourth night of fiddling with the damn thing, i was ready to wedge it under the wheels of Auntie's car and pretend we had a little accident before the party, so that nobody would ever see the wretched thing.
in the end, of course, it was a big hit, even if four nights of finicky, fiddly work translates to about thirty seconds of frenzied whacking and stomping.
(also, a big benefit is you get to put whatever lollies you like inside it, and so might manage to avoid ingesting lead-painted lollies from China or whatever.)
Hello. Just a tip on the pinata - it doesn't need as many layers as you might think. (I discovered this the hard way when I had to cut open mine with scissors!).
Also, I just gave you a "Blogging Excellence Award".
You can fill the bought pinatas - and it's useful to pre-distress them if you don't want to distress the children who can't break it after 15 minutes of solid whacking (my sister used one bought one three years running!)

so anyway, according to you lovely Rightwingdeathbeasts charging over via Timmy Blair, we Lefties should be both griping and not griping? well actually that pretty much does sum up my feelings on Howard-Lite... but much more shortly.
Just keep your wits about you. Here some of the left are very disorientated after Blair and Brown and are willing to alibi the most obscene things they've pushed through. Don't let Rudge off the hook!
