Gravatar Ha...indeed, it wouldn't be the same without the usual grade inflation articles.

Your spot on with the photogenic females too, it must seem to the outside world that A'levels classes are full of attractive women. If my classes were anything to go by, I feel this is a slight distortion of the truth.

Gravatar Tell me about it, there were some total swampdonkies in my sixth form.

Gravatar Interesting but the vast deluge of A grade results is accounted for by the independent and grammar sector, esp. in the AAA range. Very good state schools do well, but a number of factors need to be taken into account when considering the causes of so called grade inflation. The state sector does well in small, specialist sixth forms that are selective and draw from wealthy catchment areas. There is no doubt that the competitive private sector produces higher calibre candidates drilled in specialist subjects, adding flesh to the argument that there is a continuing gulf between the two and that for the state sector to improve, the aforementioned "specialist" sixth forms are creating a similar internalised tier in the state.
