Wtf is a ducking stool? Why not just put people in the stocks and chuck mouldy cabbages at them. I believe this would achieve the same result.

A ducking stool - how they used to determine if you were a witch or not in the olden days. Three duckings - if you drowned you were innocent (hey, sorry & all that) if you survived you were a witch & they burned you (or something).
Hence - probably not appropriate in the circumstances.
