It's all fun and games until somebody loses an eye

Yesterday, a chum of mine wasn't allowed onto the number 18 bus because she was carrying a cup of coffee - health and safety. Though she didn't have to wait two weeks for the next bus - just 10 minutes, or something like that.

Don't mind me.

great, what a gift! that work exp boy must have fancied you or summat.

Sorry to hear about that. I hope it didn't spoil the holiday too much. But two weeks off! Lucky you. I had a month off last year with some broken ribs and a perforated lung, which conveniently happened on the first day of Euro 2204

lisa & looby, you would think i would be over the moon wouldn't you? i mean, here i am, a whole two weeks to do with as i wish (as long as it can be done with one hand ( pause ) [leaves gap for sniggering]... but...i wanted to go back to work. and whereas 'perforated lung' sounds like a death's door situation 'i broke my wrist' sounds so feeble ... and i don't feel *ill* so i feel guilty...and i'm letting people down (sorry leanne)...and missing out on important service developments...see? it's a minefield...

A bitter pill to swallow? ahem. I thankyou.

[is still sniggering about the one handed business]

I know what you mean, but you've got to gird your loins and just enjoy a bit of good fortune.

I'm strangely relieved that the feeling you're describing is simply guilt at feeling phsyically well enough to (in theory) work. I was quite astonished at first because it sounded as though you were one of these people who'd be lost without a job to go to, and I don't imagine you like that.
