It's all fun and games until somebody loses an eye

hey again

consider this a postcard from texas... it's not the best version of the song, but it's a free acoustic download (done for the last election), and it's still pretty good.

changing subject entirely... for some reason joy division sound f*ckin great rumbling and blasting out loud loud loud in my front room. big floor to ceiling windows looking out across a valley towards the Wild Basin Preserve should somehow make it sound inappropriate, but no. they just sounds fantastic. been glad to sort of rediscover them. hadnt played anything by them for years. maybe the wood floors give it some kind of industrial summat or other. on the other hand, jilted john wasnt quite as great as i remembered. costello coming to town soon, but it's going to be one of his 'serious music' symphony type bollocks. nothing against classical music at all, just that i reckon ol mr barrel chest is still better when he's spitting and snarling as opposed to all that smug-ugly pomposity and goddawful oversinging stuff he thinks is so clever. ugh. have you heard any of his new collaboration with allen toussaint? that's more interesting, i think.

Ha! Good work, and happy gloating.

I sense a Pacific NW bent to your music.

Have you seen the Long Winters live? I don't like their recordings very much, but I think they're massively fun in person.

Good spot Jamie! It's all research.
I have to own up to having no knowledge of The Long Winters apart from that one track.

Thanks for the link Bob, I got quite excited about being able to download it at all - I usually end up freezing/crashing the computer when I try any.
I didn't even know there *was* an Allen Toussaint/Elvis Costello collaboration - I know what you mean about some of his ventures, but however infuriating he gets he always manages to redeem himself I find,
btw I think I am jealous of your windows & floors....
