It's all fun and games until somebody loses an eye

Ha! I would certainly have gotten misty-eyed seeing your t-shirt.. The Wedding Present's first two albums were pretty much the soundtrack to my youth, and I've caught up with the Cinerama stuff as well... the other month I saw Gedge and co at Manchester Academy (I think maybe you were there as well, I remember seeing mention of the gig on, you know, that place up on your sidebar...) and the nostalgia was almost too much for me to bear. Mind you I was not alone, the place was full of burly, slightly-battered looking blokes of a certain age bursting into tears at the first strains of 'Nobody's Twisting Your Arm'...

Ditto. I felt very strange buying Take Fountain last year, and quite apprehensive the first time I put it on. Surely it could only be a disappointment ? I hate it when people say "Oh that song is like the soundtrack to my life". But "I'm from further north than you" is like the soundtrack to mine.

I'm a first time visitor, via Gay Nazi Sex Vicar, by the way - love the blog.

Nooo! Cleaning out cupboards? When you find a jar of honey with a 1996 use by date and it's leaked dried up sticky gunge everywhere?

The Wedding Present too!

There's only one cure: you've got to go back to listening to the Buzzcocks and Wreckless Eric immediately ...

Suddenly realised I haven't got your views on the Grandaddy split. Most sad. Have you heard the new/final album? I was actually quite upset when it finished.
