Just to be controversial, I thought it wasn't a patch on the original 2 series and also too long. In fact, the only time I welled up was when she emptied nana's cholostomy bag in the washing up.
I could never really watch The Royle Family before, as it echoed a certain part of my family a little too closely. But that episode was almost scary, pretty much identicle to what I went through this summer. Not cried that much since the funeral. Then Liz Smith was on the Paul O'Grady show the next day. They showed the clip with her hair being done, and I cried all over again.
Great hour of television though. Well done BBC!
Yes - Robin Hood's self-satisfied smirk is really getting on my nerves (mind you, the whole thing is a complete load of tosh...).

Yes! When I first saw him I kept saying "where have I seen him before?" but everybody else just looked blank and said "dunno", so I don't know if I've seen him in another programme or if he just looks like someone else...
maybe it's someone 'real' then...but we couldn't possibly both know the same 'real' person who was *that* young, could we??
Yeah, Liz Smith is great int she? But why couldn't they get Darren back?!
