Decorating always seems like fun right up until you start doing it.
You can't beat the smell of paint and white spirit though. I bloody love the stuff!
Hello Timbo - If that's true then you are a crazy man. I've felt sick for three days! You're dead right about decorating being fun until it starts though.
I've put off decorating our living room for way too long. Last time, I was on a high for a couple of days - "blimey, perhaps I should've trained to be a painter and decorator! I really love doing this!" By about the fifth day, when I was halfway through painting the bloody staircase (a neverending job) I was in the mood to kill someone.
The last bit of glossing in the bathroom took a year to start. I did finally do the undercoat and then the first two gloss coats about three weeks ago, but the final coat... (and it's grass green, it needs three coats) ... why can't I do it? I was so optimistic that I would get it done quick that I wrapped the brush in cling film rather than using white spirit (top tip if you are really going to get it all done in one weekend), but yesterday was reduced to picking bits of cling film out of rock hard bristles. Still haven't done the last coat. Hate self.
I would like to apologise on behalf of Col U on being so on fire at the moment.
joe - I did think of you during that dark time on Monday afternoon (I will keep those thoughts to myself though, as they may have lacked charity).
re: painting - it's the gloss that does the damage isn't it? slapping on a bit of emulsion and thinking 'this is great, this - and so easy!' allows the painter to become delusional about what the rest of the job will actually entail.
And jo, I can't believe I forgot that 'wrap it in cling film' trick!

bedshaped - not actually them in person - no amount of gloss paint could've kept me from that - but the chance to talk about them with the like-minded (blogmeet).
