It's all fun and games until somebody loses an eye |

I had to drag myself away from trying on something frou frou, fifties and with net petticoats underneath the other day. If I had bought it and worn it, "drag" would have been the most fitting word. |

I love Afflecks Palace. |

Wouldn't it be great to hear James Alexander Gordon say "Tried On, one, Bought On, one"? |

So envious that you saw the Blue Nile. I saw them eons ago in Manchester on their first ever tour, which Radio 1 kindly broadcast and I still have a copy of (playing it back they still sound astonishing and like nothing else). Aside from not playing "Soul Boy", how did they sound? Pity they don't appear to be playing anywhere in Scotland. |

well...they sounded very good - impeccable - *too* good even - because, if i'm truthful they were a little...dull... |
|
It sounds like they lost the fire somewhere along the way. On stage when I saw them they were awkward, really nervous, and completely driven, and the music was fervent and raw. Their recordings though always seemed painstakingly crafted, and perhaps within that is the seed of aiming to recreate something crafted or perfect on stage. That involves no risk and as you say is a little dull to witness. |

That's nowt winter. I saw the Blue Nile when they were white. |
