How many lengths is a mile? Is it 64? I can do a kilometre (or I could, once, back when you did a mile a lot probably), but I've never done a mile. So my hat is off to you for even doing it once in a blue moon.

Yes, it is 64. The first 20 are the hardest, the second 20 the most boring - and after that it's quite easy!

Swimming was the only sort of physical exercise I used to enjoy as a child. At one point I was going to the swimming baths around three or four times a week. The only time I swim now if I'm on holiday (we're probably holidaying in Britain for the forseeable future - so no more swimming, basically). Unhappy memories of waiting for buses in the cold with damp crinkly hair, aged ten, though.

betty - I used to hate swimming at school - tho' I *was* 11 or 12 before I could swim at all - a late developer in oh, so many ways!
