What Say Thee?

Gravatar Is that a photo of you in your profile? Have you changed dramatically since it was taken? You look as though you could easily carry some more weight to me. :?

Gravatar I look the same as I do in the photo, which was only taken maybe six months ago... albeit at a particularly flattering angle.

I am only a size 12-14. I was genuinely suprised by her conclusion!

Gravatar You know I think their weight / height ratio charts are too generalised - you may be exactly the right size for your frame. And you look great in the photo! And you have a wonderful blog and supportive blog friends! And chocolate! x M

Gravatar ...unfortunately too much chocolate?! But thank you. Thank you very much. x

Gravatar Well unless you are using someone else's picture, you are a skinny little thing!
How awful to make you feel like that! You are not morbidly obese!
I am also overweight, but I know that & will cut back.
If you are happy with yourself then that is fine!

Gravatar Size 12-14 can not be overweight!

The photo of you is stunning. Don't start hating your body. And perhaps consider giving your doctor a good slap!

Gravatar Came to visit and have started reading your posts - which I like very much. Have forgotten what it's like to have a boyfriend!! Of course you're not fat. M xx

Gravatar Maggie May- I think the thing that hurt most is that she said it as if I already knew. I was stunned! I have a little bit to grab hold to but overweight? I didn't know that!

...But dammit- I am happy! (she says, after an evening for the first time in a long time at the gym...)

Gravatar Caroline... that was my first instinct!

Gravatar Margot- hello! And welcome. Anybody that says such nice things is encouraged to stay!

G.I.M X

Gravatar Doctors do know about these things but Your Doctor sounds as if she needs some training in dealing with her patients.

As for your weight, losing a bit will never be a bad thing but don't get a hang-up about it. The majority of men prefer, to quote you, "a bit to hold on to".

Gravatar Millions die of hunger in the world every year and we in the West obsess about not being thin enough. It's daft. Carry on eating and drinking and enjoying it. We're not on this earth very long anyway.

Gravatar Anon- I agree. Doctor Nasty didn't exactly deal with me wonderfully!

Dumdad- please do not get me wrong, I do not want to be 'thin'. But the fact that somebody in the medical profession has declared me to be overweight is rather upsetting i.e. for my health rather than anything else. I had no idea I'd be classed as weighing more than I 'should'!

Gravatar If she's using a BMI scale then she's probbaly wrong anyway. Whoever devised that daft thing forgot one vital fact... muscle weighs more than fat. So on that scale, rugby players are morbidly obese, and size 24 people are in the normal range. I wouldn't worry too much

Gravatar Anneli- thanks! You might be right you know. I am quite muscley. All is okay!

Nice of you to stop by... x-x-x

Gravatar Hey, just reading some older posts here.. (I really like your writing style!)

If your doctor sticks to the BMI scale she could be really wrong. I'm seriously underweight according to that index, but then one of my friends has special scales that measure fat percentage and I have a fat percentage of 24 - it should be between 20 and 35 percent. So in that sense I'm perfectly healthy!

A size 12-14 doesn't sound all that big to me. Oh and what could help, play some really good music and dance along to it! It's free, fun, you burn calories but also produce endorfines, which make you happy.

Gravatar Marjolein- the last time I danced like nobody was watching I got asked to stop. Does the warm glow I get from your compliment r.e. my writing count as calorie burning I wonder?!

x
