Well done you, I'm sending the Cadburys Caramel over to you.
A male driver p*ssed me off on the motorway once. He was with his wife/girlfriend, so I pretended I knew him by waving happily and frantically to him. I then blew him a kiss, I watched in my rear view mirror as the arguement commenced. I'll bet he had a lovely journey home! Hey happy packing, not long now!

Debs- GALAXY caramel. That is VERY IMPORTANT! And as for your motorway trick- that is so naughty! But quite genius.
Emmie- Thank you for encouraging my ASBO behaviour.
Brett- Okay! But only because you said so.

Excellent response. I hate it when people react really rudely when it's completely uncalled for.

Brilliant, I love the cheesy grin followed by the finger- that's the way to do it! I love killing people with kindness, but sometimes only the finger will do.

My patience with driving is not great at the best of times but some people truly bug me with their road-rage or driving rudeness. Perhaps his Mrs had jealously told him you were waiting for him and he had to prove you weren't? Meh, or perhaps he was just being rude. Let's go with the latter.

The elderly gent was lucky you weren't a testosterone-loaded young guy. I might have opened the door suddenly and knocked him on his arse! And I'm past those days!
Your response was more effective I think. The exclamation you added excellent.
BTW -- yes, I did find all the funny stuff. I have no doubts about your ability to do funny...as the last three posts so clearly demonstrate!

Oh yes, Galaxy Caramel definitely deserved. I'll have one too to keep you company. Hey, not strictly relevant but I have been worrying about Clementine. He is going to have such a hard time at school. Do you promise to give him a nice butch middle name?

Marjolein- I know, right? What a total arsehole!
Marianne- I tried to be nice. It felt better to be nasty.
LCT- It was not as if my ten second pause was a life or death situation for him, is it?!
JL- Phew! I thought for a minute you had presumed me melancholy...
Jaywalker- Clementine is a SHE. *ahem* I like Sebastian and Gabriel for a boy. And I am predicted twins by my palm-reader, so it may be both.
Akelamalu- now that would have been an interesting post... "And then, I clocked him one".

That elevated digit was so deserved. It always amazes me how some people of a certain age believe they reserve the right (by dint of their age) to be rude and unfriendly shits. Screw them! I say.
Anyway, dear Girl, I adore you and your writings and do look forward to your book.

Lane- Thank you. I was quite calm under the circumstances. If it were last week when I had PMT I may well have kicked him the shins.
Ian- Screw them indeed! And no more book references, that scares me. It is a SUMMER PROJECT and nothing more. Probably. x

A horrible word is coming to mind in relation to that man. I'm not going to use it online but it has four letters, begins with a C and ends with a T. He is one. Enough said. Well done you though, you really told him!!!

The trouble with finger gestures is that they do nothing to calm the other person who may drive away furiously and run over a small child.
Your original courtesy was right. Driving is dangerous enough without making things worse.
The "gentleman" was a total pig, of course!

You were absolutely right in the way you handled that situation. But I would've screamed in his face. He must've been one of those careless drivers that would've put someone in the coma you envisioned.

I got 'road raged' by a driver here the other week. In France they have this ridiculous Priorité ŕ droite system whereby people coming from sideroads onto main roads have priority. It's not everywhere, just in certain places and you usually have to guess where they are. Apparently if there are no lines on the road and no stop signs on the sideroad, they have priority. Of course those on the main road, can't see if there is a sign on the sideroad. (are you still with me?) This halfwit followed me to a carpark, jumped out of his car and snarled at me that he had 'priorité'. I drew myself up and told him in my best French that the English will always have priority over the French. That's just the natural order of things. Not very diplomatic but it sure took the wind out of his sails! VLiF
