One might infer that little or no progress has been made in correcting our environmental damage and that destruction is still virtually unchecked.  <br><br>As a resident in the Greater Cleveland, Ohio area, I can attest that clean-up and corrections are being made.  Continued progress and watch dogging will always be necessary when businesses are looking primarily at the bottom line.<br><br>Environmental responsibility is a cost of doing business.  One that I am incredulous over the Chinese thinking the US should shoulder.  Compliance with EPA regulations is expensive and certainly reflected in the difference in pricing between Made in USA and Made elsewhere.<br><br>If the US were to contribute to the environmental clean up it should be with raised pricing of Chinese goods. Then let China take responsibility for it's own global share of pollution as it spends it's global share of the profits.<br><br>That might just level the playing field and the Chinese would actually have to compete as equals. US companies would have to reconsider their foreign manpower choices if they actually had to comply like in the US. <br><br>Might just effect the US economy by returning jobs better than some stipend check that we can spend on more Chinese goods.<br /><span class=\"byline\">           Lauri Rogers | 04.15.08 - 10:44 am | <a href=\"#4380\" title=\"Link to this comment\">#</a></span></p><hr /></td></tr><tr>    <td class=\"InputCell\">                  <div id=\"newcomment\"></div><form method=\"post\" name=\"addComment\" action=\"http://www.haloscan.com/comments/globalwatchpbs/ep5/\" target=\"_self\">        <p>    Name: <br />          <input name=\"name\" type=\"text\" size=\"38\" value=\"\" /><br />          Email:<br />          <input name=\"email\" type=\"text\" size=\"38\" value=\"\" /><br />          URL: <br />          <input name=\"url\" type=\"text\" size=\"38\" value=\"\" /><br />          Comment:<br />          <textarea name=\"addMessage\" rows=\"12\" cols=\"38\"></textarea><br /><input type=\"checkbox\" name=\"subscribe\" id=\"subscribe\" value=\"1\" /><label for=\"subscribe\">Notify me of followup comments via email</label>        </p>        <p class=\"PSubmit\"><input name=\"submit\" type=\"submit\" value=\"Publish\" style=\"font-weight: bold;\" class=\"SubmitButton\" />&nbsp;<input name=\"previewMessage\" type=\"submit\" value=\"Preview\" class=\"SubmitButton\" />        </p>      <input type='hidden' name='user' value='globalwatchpbs' /><input type='hidden' name='comment' value='ep5' /></form>    </td></tr></table><img src=\"http://c5.statcounter.com/counter.php?sc_project=561713&amp;java=0&amp;security=01eeff58\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" /></body>");
