Agree. And not only do I agree, but I think scripture itself speaks to that. Jesus instructs his followers that the Holy Spirit will come and will continue to teach them. The Gospel of John relates Jesus to the very word of God incarnate. It seems to me that to wrestle with Scripture is actually a traditional approach.

I agree with you, George. The Bible is the central witness of God to the Church through the Spirit. Without the Spirit's power to convict the hearts of humanity, the Scripture would still be true in the sense that it is a true witness to God, but its power would be rendered of none effect in the hearts and minds of those who read it (I guess the power is in the hearing).
Also, I still have problems with evangelicals and others capitalizing "W" to describe the Bible as the word of God. Holy Scripture is the word of God, but Jesus is the Word of God! It's a semantics game, I know but I'm a bit disturbed at the thought that some can confuse the two.
