I would recommend Michael Behe's Darwin’s Black Box. Also, Prof. Bob Strimple of Westminster Seminary in California has a brief review of the Expelled movie.

Darwin's Black Box looks interesting. From looking at the reviews it looks as though Behe is putting forth a "God in the gaps" argument. Am I correct? I've always thought God in the gaps arguments instill a dangerous philosophy in Christians -- a kind of medieval superstition where everything we can't explain is attributed to God.

My son has described what the book is all about; I haven't actually read it, but most reviewers describe Behe as one of the most prominent ID proponents, as in this article:
