Its sadder that well educated, middle class, good Thais are willing to pay cops off and discuss the price rather than collectively trying to improve.
If anything, we should be using the power of the Internet to mobilize a campaign. Anti-corruption starts at home. Every evil we complain about needs to be corrected by us.
Next time if you're driving, just act dumb. We girls can pull it off easily. Tell him how you really couldn't see or didn't know. Be charming. Keep whining. He'll be annoyed and let you go. I got away with it twice. The other 2 times I wasn't in the mood to act. I got the tickets.
I have been once stopped by a traffic cop, what he asked me was "do you have time to go to police station mai krap?" nice ?? I said "Yes, sure ! im a jobless i have plenty of it, just keep my license i will handle it myself! " 
he might thought to me "what a cheap jobless thing"
And people complain about Thailand's corruption problem. I notice this is your place to rant shamelessly and you've done well.
Of course you're not the only one who does it, but it seems most of the Thai middle class out there protesting against Thaksin also love to do it. If anything, it helps explain why the country is in such a mess: its not just some dodgy politician's fault.
But hey, if you practice what you preach then that's fine, I guess......?
i paid 200 B for the wrong turn at plearn-jit. i was follow 2-3 cars and make a right turn .... according to the police, those two cars were diplomatics with a traffic cop leading their "parade"
