Comment on In the Middle of America

and here my first thought was that they had been profiled by dohs and removed and detained without representation. difference in perspectives i guess.

Gravatar my guess is they are sitting in a US prison..

we might not hear anything until BushCo need some good press.

Gravatar ? lol, you are really a moron Hype. Read the article.

They arrived with about 5 other guys all on student visa to attend the same university. 5 made it to the university, and 11 didnt, and now no one knows where they are. if they were sitting in a prison somewhere, dont you think someone might inform INS not to put out a "search" for them?

Gravatar i doubt our government would trust the INS with information about "terrorists".

you would have to be a moron to discount the possibility they were picked up and sent to an undisclosed prison.

-Hype

Gravatar Ok Hype, you're right, the SS picked them up, and then let the entire world be alerted to it via the INS and resulting news coverage... you got me.

Dont be a dummy.

Gravatar who said anything about the SS?

our government has been abducting people for the past 5 years.. no trial. no lawyer. their family doesn't even know what happened to them.

-Hype

Gravatar you dont think things through all the time. Do the logic on this:

If I were government official "X", and I wanted to abduct 11 newly arrived Arabs for some questioning that wasnt exactly constitutional, would I:

A.) Grab them off the street and tell no one so that missing persons reports get filed and everyone starts wondering what happened, thus generating a plethera of media coverage?

B.) Work closely with other government officals in sister agencies to make sure that word of their presense and subsequint dissapearance went virtually unnoticed until what was done was easy to ignore and hide?

You decide.

The "SS" comparison was the "secret police" think you seem to imply with the theory that they're sitting in a prison somewhere.

Gravatar that is exactly what they did...

they don't notify government agencies.. they don't trust them... none of them.. they simply don't trust them.

they abduct people from this country and pretty much any country they have wanted to.

we only found out about it after they let some of them go.

Gravatar "you dont think things through all the time"

funny you should say that, considering you get smacked down by me whenever I post here.

you can't make good arguments, you don't source very well and you generalize to make your point.

-Hype

Gravatar here is one for your thinker..

if these guys were suspected of terrorism and picked up, what makes you think they would let everybody know ASAP?

i think each situation is different. however, don't you think they would not release this information if they could use it? or if going public threatened an on-going investigation.

maybe the INS and all the depts are involved, i doubt it, but it is possible. it is possible none are saying anything at the direction of the Dept of Homeland security for any number of reasons.

-Hype

Gravatar They are saying things though, thats what I mean... you dont seem to understand this situation.

Ok, 11 guys go missing, and the FBI is announcing that they are suddenly persons of interest. The INS has officially revoked their student visas, and the University is worrying about the effects on the student visa program.

This is what was in the article.

So again, if an agency was going to secretly abduct 11 people, they would need to make sure that it wasnt plastered all over the news. But instead, we've got every news outlet reporting this thing.

Now, for thinking about it, dont you think if they were suspected of terrorism or terrorist connections that Dept. of Homland Security would let them run around and watch them to get even more leads on possible domestic connections?

Good grief I swear you dont ever think stuff through, you just lip off and then proclaim yourself the winner of mythical arguments that dont exist.

Gravatar who said the government was competent?

The Department of Homeland of Security was a mistake. Rolling the various agencies into that one agency did not help us.

It is also possible the military carried out this operation, and didn't care about the exposure. We don't have enough information.

-Hype

Gravatar Ok. keep up the mentality of immediately suspecting and blaming our country and our countries officials.

occam's razor: They came and dissapeared on purpose. It wasnt some complicated and convoluted governmental conspiracy.

Gravatar gotta agree with you G. and its scary as hell.

Gravatar btw - did you hear they found two of them...??

Gravatar 3 actually, and yes, updated the post to reflect it.
