Gravatar Impeachment is the only way we have to stop corrupt officials from continuing to commit crimes. It is necessary and totally democratic (it requires 51% of the votes to accomplish) so I don't know what the hell Murtha's talking about. As far as really heinous crimes go, like lying us into a war or justifying searches and seizures without court oversight (a clear violation of the 4th amendment to the Constitution), if someone's engaging in those practices the people must get rid of them. We can't sit around talking about what we could accomplish instead, since every minute you let a crime go unpunished, the criminal is out there committing more.

I hope you guys wake up and realize that nearly everything this President has done to us is utterly in opposition to the Constitution and our laws. Impeachment is not only necessary, it's long overdue.

Gravatar Wow, I think I get more Liberal commentors than Conservative one's. But thank you for your opinion. For NSA unraveling please refer to my post "Bleh. That Is What Today Feels Like. Bleh." to show you the truth. Also, he didn't lie; unless you admit that every bigwig Democrat also lied and the UN lied as well. Misinformation is different from lying; although if you refer to my post "More Proof" you will find that they did find weapons.
Thanks again.

Gravatar Tahoma Activist writes “I hope you guys wake up and realize that nearly everything this President has done to us is utterly in opposition to the Constitution and our laws.

All the way back to Lincoln, nearly everything Presidents and their Congress has done to us is utterly in opposition to the Constitution and our laws. There is an exception in congress today; he is Rep. Ron Paul from Texas. They call him Dr. No, because when a bill is up for vote and he can not find the powers enumerated in the Constitution to congress, he votes no.

In the Mudville Gazette, General Wagner said “And I think it's a disgrace when members of our congress, just as they did in 1975 when they sold out the South Vietnamese, are selling out our soldiers today in Iraq.”

In 1975, besides selling out the South Vietnamese, they also sold out our soldiers. So if the American people keep voting for the same old parties that they have been voting for, they will keep getting what they have been getting for the last 30 years.

“Dissent is the highest form of patriotism.” Thomas Jefferson

"Peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations – entangling alliances with none." Thomas Jefferson

"The principles of Jefferson are the axioms of a free society." Abraham Lincoln

Gravatar It is not Congress' job to decide whether a bill is constitutional, but frankly it does seem more apt to our system. But, even still; there are few powers enumerated, so I doubt that he says yes very often. Thankyou for your clear and concise opinion. Now, I am no NeoCon, I do not much like seeking trouble, but I believe that this war is not only justified, it is our duty as America to fight- The war on terrorism however, seems to be a war that may never end.

Gravatar That is not what congress says and here is your evidence straight from the Library of Congress.

HOW OUR LAWS ARE MADE

Revised and Updated by Charles W. Johnson
Parliamentarian, United States House of Representatives
Presented by Mr. Ney
June 30, 2003

VII. REPORTED BILLS

Contents of Reports

Paragraph 3

In addition, each report of a committee on a public bill or public joint resolution must contain a statement citing the specific powers granted to Congress in the Constitution to enact the law proposed by the bill or joint resolution.

BTW, I never called you a NeoCon. Don’t worry, you don’t have to go out seeking trouble, our fearless leaders will seek out trouble for you, justified or not. Just check out history.

Gravatar They just state everything under commerce clause. Congress has too much power.

Gravatar They just state everything under commerce clause. Congress has too much power.

And yet, you say it's not their job to follow the Constitution?

Perhaps if they did start debating the Constitutionality of the laws they pass, they would be reminded of what the Constitution is, and maybe they wouldn't keep grabbing so much power?

Gravatar Maybe if we had a Sumpreme court that didn't allow congress to stretch the commerce clause so far, this wouldn't be a problem.
