I just found your website a few days ago and have been eating 200 cal meals four to five times a day for the past week. Yesterday however I started doing your fast weight loss workouts 1 and 2 and i was wondering if they would make my legs get any bulkier. I have been trying to lengthen my leg muscles more specifically my calf muscles and nothing I do works. I'm just wondering if those work outs will really just melt fat and not increase my muscle. I'm 5'4 and 133 but I'm very muscular on the bottom and small uptop so I want to tone down my bottom half. Also I used to use a dvd set last summer in tandem with lipozene and I lost ten pounds but my legs never really got smaller just more defined. I know you can't do spot reduction work outs but are there any work outs you could suggest that could help me lengthen my leg muscles and also help me lift my butt without making it bigger.? I was previously using abs/legs/buns/arms of envy (carmen electras dance friends workout) but I'm not sure whether it's aimed for women who are just trying to tone up after losing weight. I'd say I'm a meso-endomorph but my legs bulk really easily- if you could give me some advice I'd really appreciate it! Thankyou

You simply need to look at how to lose weight faster but for a quick answer...

#1 - Your calorie range (when I checked on the 50 pound calculator) is 1400-to-1800 so you need to flert with eating near 1400 if you want to lose weigh faster and...

#2 - Look at 1-thru-5 here and experiment and make changes to your current INTERVAL training to jumpstart fat loss again but...

The schedule you have planned for next week is okay but you want to forget the M/W/F evening circuit training and do fast weight loss workout #1 or #2 to burn fat and get toning or even another interval

Circuit training workouts are fine but Circuit training workouts are more good for toning than they are for fat loss.


Adrian, I just completed 4 wks of your 50 lb weight loss plan. Here are the stats:

* I'm 5'7-1/2 and started at 240 lbs
* 42 yrs old endomorph that builds muscle easily
* Did interval elliptical trainer twice a day (20 minutes each time) Mon-Fri with weekends off
* Ate raw veggies, whole fruits, lowfat yogurt and cheese, lean proteins, almonds, and drank 2 liters of water daily (approx 1800 calories a day spread over 4-5 mini meals)
* Took a multivitamin plus B-12 and biotin
* Drank Arizona diet green tea in place of morning coffee
* Gave up all alcohol and nicotine (was a heavy wine drinker)
* The first 2-3 weeks I sweated profusely and kept my heart rate in the 160-170 range; last week I noticed having to work harder to sweat (and even when I did, my heart rate was in the 145-150 range, perfect for my age)

The results? I lost a grand total of two pounds. I didn't measure but can see a slight reduction in my belly, which is the last place I put weight on. I'm disappointed but feel I will do better going back on Atkins (worked well for me without exercise) and adding weight training to my routine.

The gym I attend offers Firm-like classes, and here's a revised schedule I intend to start on Monday 2/2/09:

M/W/F Mornings: Interval Cardio (20 minutes)
M/W/F Evenings: Circuit Training Classes (60 minutes)
T/Th Mornings: Cardio (20 minutes)
T/Th Evenings: Step Class (60 minutes)

Is this a good plan for someone in my circumstance? I'm afraid I'll put on pounds when I start building muscle, but still willing to put in the work for results if I'm on the right path!

I have followed your plan how to loose 50 pounds. I have been doing this plan for a week and exercising on treadmill for 90 min. cardio interval, medium intensity. Following calorie, water and green tea consumption to the "T". I only lost 1 pound but I actually lost inches. As far as the treadmill V. elliptical for which burns the most fat is that they'll both burn the same amount of fat if you put the same intensity into both but in my opinion...

You can get a lot more intense on a treadmill compared to a elliptical so actually in my opinion...

I would do the treadmill since you can push yourself harder than you can on an elliptical

I need help...I am 35 years old, last child almost 2, and am still carrying 125 lbs. more than I should...literally an entire person. Because I weigh 256 @ 5'1'', I feel poorly all the time and I know it's weight related. My only concern is that I was diagnosed with my first eating disorder @ 17. It was triggered by a cruel comment my ex-husband once made and resulted in my developing a severe complex about the way I looked. I almost starved myself to death before my mother was able to get me the help I needed. I recovered and was happy with how I looked until 2005. My world was shattered and I was almost hospitalized after giving birth to my second child when I discovered my husband was having multiple affairs. I was devasted because the women he was seeing said horrible things that altered my self image so severely, I wasn't even able to look into a mirror. I removed all of them from my home, I would walk 4 flights of stairs to avoid mirrored elevators and would look down rather than to catch a glimpse of my own reflection. Months of treatment helped, but you never really get over somethings. At this point I am clinically labeled as morbidly obese and need to lose weight for my health. Is is safe to try without creating chemical imbalances in the brain and what would you recommened? My MD recommended "Weight Watchers" but I was told they don't deal with people who have eating disorders. Am I misinformed?

from looking at the RED XL it doesn't look like a too intense of a workout to me in my opinion

I spin five times a week and run on the weekends but no matter how dedicated I am to my exercise I can't get these last 10 pounds off. I'm on a 1600 calorie intake (its all healthy foods mostly veggies, chicken, fruits, yogart, and fiber 1 bars) for about two weeks now and still nothing. I'm a 5"5 22yr female who weighs 61k. Now, I know I'm not overweight, but I want to remove my "boomp" on my stomach - and fast! I don't live in the US so I don't know half the brands you're talking about, and Carbs only show as grms on packets (and I've never understood the counting of them).

2-to-3 pounds is "average" but the more overweight you are.. the more weight (FAT) you can lose a week


I have heard that the recommended weight loss rate is 2-3 pounds per week, but no one ever explains why. Is there a reason? The only people I have heard say this are usually selling weight loss products (slim-fast), so I figured they were just trying to increase sales.

You don't need to lose weight and you already a NICE looking bikini body if you're 5 foot and weigh 112 pounds and besides...

You can't lose 12 pounds in 2 weeks anyway because you may not have 12 pounds of FAT to lose and if you don't like your body image...

I suggest you do body sculpting exercises with light reps to make yourself look skinnier without losing weight

Alright: Here is my problem and question.

I'm 17, 5'6 and 165lbs, when I was in boxing I was 15-20lbs lighter. We did a lot of skipping, and no lifting weights really, just our own body weight. But I do not have the money to join again. I have lost my 6 pack, and nice thighs. Not to say my breasts not muscle anymore grew 2 sizes. I found my diet has changed because I live on my own. Also I found when I did lift weight for upper body 10-15 lbs along with high reps, my arms were 13 inches and I kinda had a manly top figure. I find mostly flabby areas are belly/breasts and upper thighs, I have definition at the knees, going 1.2 way up my thigh but then... it disapears...

Also, how many pounds are healthy to loose every week.
And how to I NOT hit a Platue?

My 21st bday is in May and i want to feel great. Can you please help me? (oh i also have started getting on the treadmill everyday for 30mins at 3.8 mph and doing 60crunches.)

I am trying so hard to lose 20lbs. I changed my diet, I eat more salads, chicken, fruit and veggies. I hit a plateu. I lost 4.5 lbs and now it's slowing down. I run everyday on my treadmill for at least 15 minutes, sometimes longer, it depends on my two kids. I feel like why even bother if I'm not losing. Everyone keeps saying it will happen. Will it? What am I doing wrong. Please help me. Thank you very much.

I have lost 200 lbs from 2005 to now. And no matter what I do, I am stuck with the last 70-100 lbs. I am at 209-212 give or take. I need to be at 97-105 according to my BMI. I don't eat junk food, I relish in my vegetables, fish, chicken. I don't eat red meats, I don't eat a lot of pasta and breads. I don't drink sodas. I drink water and juice (the juice had no sugar or salt) I don't get it. I even joined a gym.
