Hello!
I stumbled across this site today purely by accident - and what an answer to my prayers. I've struggled w my weight all my life. I am now at my heaviest ever 270 and am 5'3 and SEVERLY Depressed! I have degenerative joint & disc disease & have already had 1 back surgery. I want to win this battle once & for all and I NEED HELP! My short term goal is for my "mile-stone" B'day in 2 mos (40!) My best friend surpised me w a trip to the beach to celebrate going "over-the-hill" & I am freaking out about going because of my size. I work full-time 8-9hrs a day in a sit-down job - How much weight can I possibly lose in 8 weeks and HOW??? Please help me! I am out of options and feeling like am out of hope. I would have the gastric bypass surgery today if my ins. covered it or I could afford it. Trust me I have been on every plan from Atkins to WW. FINALLY after I happened upon this site I feel some hope for the 1st time in YEARS. What a wonderful thing you are doing here, Thanks! I already did your "flabby arms" exercises the minute I found the site, that is a HUGE start for me as I am generally inactive due to my DJD and DDD. I am afraid of most exercise videos I've seen for fear of increasing my "normal" daily pain and fear of injury like another herniated disc or something. What do you suggest that is specific for me based on my condition for both diet and exercise plans? I want to lose as much as possible in the next 8 weeks and then am ok with a slower more gradual and healthier approach. I look forwad to your reply! Thanks again!

hi
I'm tyring to lose weight b4 aug (my birthday)i want to be down by 50lbs i am 5'9 and 225. Now b/c summer is comming up i chg my workout plan to two times a day 3 days a week(30 min of cardio b4 work and after,walk when i am on my two 15 min breaks) my goal weight is to be at 170-180lb. I'm 5"5" and 234, Caucasian and female. I am going to Japan the last week of July so have 3.5 months to lose weight. I work 3-5 hours 3-4 days per week doing housekeeping, have a Nordic track, stationery bike, workout ball and step for step aerobics and also can go walk/jog a .5 mile track outdoors. If I stick to a 13-1400 cal diet with mostly chicken or fish, veges and some dairy and fruits in am and keep starches to every 3rd day....will this work to bring my weight down to 145? What would my body fat % be at 145? And is it possible to achieve that weight in 3.5 months? What would I need to do to lose 60 pounds?

Never heard of those pills so I can't offer an opinion on safety of those pills but...
They are other ways to curb hunger without pills
Adding exercise will definetly help you lose weight faster and...
How long should you stay on a VLCD? - Go here for an answer to that question but for a quicker answer...
If you're still losing then it's okay for you to stay on this diet for now,

Hi,
Great website by the way. My name is Ciava and I am an African American female who is extremely overweigt. At my heaviest, which was about a month and a half ago, I weighed 225lbs. I am only 5'3" so I was extremely obese. Meanwhile, I have been doing the VLCD and taking these weight loss pills called Super Slim (China). Now I weigh 195lbs. Now that I have viewed this website I am sure that my weight loss has come from the diet, but the pills curb my hunger and cravings for more food. Have you heard anything about these pills? Is it safe to keep taking them or should I just continue with my diet? I have also lost this weight without exercising. Once I incorporate working out, how long do you think it will take me to get to an ideal weight and what is the ideal weight for my height? I want to lose weight all over, but I still want to have larger, tone hips and butt. My current measurements are 37-33-46. I would love to be 34-28-40. Is this realistic with my weight loss goals or even healthy measurements for my height?

Second you said that it was better to exercise in the morning to boost the metabolism, but I personally really don't have time to do it in the morning. Is it less effective in the evening or later during the day??

Love your website! I'm 30/5'6/Female. I started out at 246lbs. I'm now at 206lbs. I need to know if my current workout/diet/supplements are sufficient to reach my goals or should I be doing something different to reach my goals faster. It will not be any harder for you to lose weight than anyone else.
You may lose 50 but not 85 pounds in 3 months and I would make a longer term goal of 85 pounds in 7-to-10 months

Hi,
I am a full time mother and grad student. Since having my 2 kids my weight has been between 230lbs and 260lbs. Currently I am 250lbs and I am determined to get down to 165. I am very proportionate 40G in a bra and 16/18 in jeans.I heard that it would be very hard to lose weight because of my weight being proportionate. Is that true? Also I was wondering if I worked out 4hrs daliy(2hrs in the AM and 2hrs in the PM) and maintain a 1200 calorie diet, could i accomplish my goal of 165lbs in 3 months?

It depends on how much you can be active combined with eating right = how long it'll take you to lose weight so only you can answer that but...
With you doing everything right - it should take you 3-to-5 months to permanently lose 40 pounds

People who have loose skin after weight loss are usually people who lost all their weight just by dieting alone.
Ali dieted and worked out (cardio & weights) which kept her skin firm and muscles looking sexy as she lost weight so the moral of the story here is...
EXERCISE + DIET or EXERCISE only to look good naked after losing huge amounts of weight and never diet alone

Hi,
Today I found out about Ali Vincent and her amazing weight loss (I am from the UK, so perhaps that's why I had never heard of her before...). She has lost 112lbs (nearly half her original weight). I have been looking at her "after" photos and she looks EXTREMELY toned and I cannot see any excess/flabby skin on her at all (especially her arms they look brilliant). Most of the people I know, or have seen on the net that have lost 100lbs+ have alot of excess flabby skin, especially on the arm area (triceps).
How has Ali managed to shrink back so damn well? She looks like she was never overweight, considering how much weight she has lost. Personally, I would have to think she has had some sort of cosmetic surgery to get rid of that excess flabby skin? Surely, she must have?... We all know that ones skin can only stretch so far, and losing that amount of weight in such a short time all leads to excess stretched flabby skin... So, did she get so toned by exercise and diet alone? Or did she have cosmetic surgery (arm/body lift) to get rid of flabby arms/legs etc?

Hi, I'm 23 years old. I'm about 5'5 and roughly weigh about 175. I'm an office manager, so I mainly sit all day long. I have NO energy, and when I do, I may get on the elliptical or treadmill and lift a few weights for maybe an hour. I snack alot, but my main dishes are usually pretty healthy, grilled chicken, salads and lots of veggies. I'd love to lose 50-55 pounds uber fast, but I understand it takes time. My personal goal is to walk (eventually jog or run) 1 mile on my lunch break and 1 mile after work everyday. Is there anyway you can help with some additional advice or plan?

Probably not and here's why, You may be able to lose 4 pounds a week for your first 2 weeks (or 8 pounds your 1st 2 weeks) but your weight loss will slow down due to the fact that you won't be much overweight and...
You're only 15-to-20 pounds overweight now so after losing your first 15 pounds - your weight loss will slow down and this doesn't mean you'll stop losing weight - it just means you won't be able to lose 4 pounds per week for 6 weeks so at best...
You'll probably lose 4 pounds a week your 1st 2 weeks and then maybe 1-3 pounds until you reach your goal
