I was fit and healthy until 1998 when I began the hypothyroid medication, that led to high BP, then, beta blockers which led to CHF...then the RA kicked in , and it's been downhill all the way. LOL. I am presentl;y awaiting surgery for my right knee and hip which now have osteo arthritis as well... sheesh, why isn't anything SIMPLE anymore?

Hey, I would really like to have a similar body that Matthew McCaunghey has. I have about %15 bodyfat. I have been working out on my home gym for about 3 weeks now. I do bicep curls, tricep pushdowns, Bench Press and Pectorial Fly. Then I run a mile after that. I do 8 reps and 4 sets while lifting heavy. I do this monday, wed and fri. I use protien, creatine and just bought some CLA.

Does this sound like a good routine to keep following until I max out on my home gym? Does this routine sound like it could give me a similar body?

If your legs are getting skinnier then it's probably because you are burning fat off your legs which is a good thing and the only way I can see you losing some leg muscle is if you're doing the HIIT everyday for really long periods of time but...

So I started the 3-4 week plan to loose 20lbs. I'm 5'7 145 and wish to make my goal weight of 125 before my birthday in December!

I'm excited and today I got up drank 2 glasses or water + green tea and headed off to the gym. At the gym I did 45 min cardio and 20 weight training.

My question is for the diet. I consumed 900 calories today and only 100 of them were from soy protein I had in the morning. I did not have the recommended protein for each meal, instead I added another fruit or veggie. Is this bad? I don't like protein very much. I used to protein and I would feel so bulky that now I'm scared to use it. I know I need the protein to help aide my muscles so i included protein for each meal i had a serving of tuna.

Generally you should only work a certain muscle group 2-to-3 times a week and You should wait at least 48-to-72 hours or 2-to-3 days before you work the same muscles again

I don't think you'll put on any weight and it's more likely you'll lose or maintain your weight and if you eat only weight loss foods during your allowed eating periods...

You'll greatly increase your chances of not gaining any weight and even if you do gain a few pounds...

You can easily lose those pounds once you get your metabolism back on track again by eating normally

I'm 30, I weigh 185 pounds and i'm 5'7". I've been going to the gym 3-4 times a week over a period of 4 years (through 23 years old and 27 years old). I have dropped from 200 pounds to 170 pounds over this period of 4 years.
After that, i quit training and begin running outside 2-3 times a week. I find it difficult so i've stopped. ( main reasons : allergies, legs, lung).

Now, i want to return to the gym to train again and go back to the shape i was at that time. I have a chance to take a time off from work for the next 3 months.

I would like to have the best possible training and diet to repeat what i did in 4 years, but this time by losing 15 pounds in 3 months. I want to be able to train 5 times a week during this period. When i will go back to work, i will continue my training 4 times a week.

I used to weigh 304 lbs. I'm 22 years old and 5'2. I found out I was diabetic and changed the way I eat and lost 60 lbs over a 2 year period. It took a long time because I did not excercise at all. I have plateaued. I recently joined the gym and i go 3 times a week. If you have a short term goal then meaning you want to lose weight in under 2 months then YES - taking too many cheat days like that may hurt your goals but...

If you have a Longer term goal then it's okay to have a cheat day every once in a while but I wouldn't do every weekend and I'd prefer if you have a cheat day like once every 10 days

I have been using your workouts and they work. I have a different problem than most women (I assume). I used to be in every sport working out everyday; When I was 17. Now, 21 and am the same weight after a few years of not working out 6' 190lbs. I like being large but miss the muscle. My BP is perfect and my heart/general health good. I try to combine the two but if I am running late...I definately do the water aerobics because I have the class for it @ 10 - 11 am. I try to do the walk a way the pounds because I need to do exercises 1st thing in the morning. So do I need to do more to loose 20lbs in 3 weeks and again can I stay on the 20lbs in 3-4 weeks plan up to 16 weeks or at least 12 weeks. This is my 1st week.

I suffered a stroke 8 years ago & gained approximately 170 lbs. I know this to be unhealthy since I've developed type 2 diabetes for which I take medication as well as for hypertention. Is it true if u don't hold your abs tight during any abs exercise that your abs will pouch out? And if you can't keep them flat during any abs exercise they will not get flat or toned?
