If you can't workout in the morning then that's okay because...
You can still lose weight with once a day workouts but if you're happy with your results then...
Make your workouts more intense and/or do them longer (But no need to do a workout longer than 60-to-90 min)

NO... Creatine is only necessary post-workout wise if you're trying to build muscle by helping your body recover faster from a workout but...
Gaining muscle from creatine is a good thing in the long run for weight loss since the more muscle you have = the higher your metabolism is making it easier for you to lose weight

At least 30-to-40% of your calories should be from protein regardless of whether it's whey/soy or food sources of protein so for example...
If you're supposed to be eating 2000 calories a day to lose weight then 600-to-800 of calories (or 30-to-40%) should be protein and since protein has 4 calories per gram - in this example...
You would need to eat 150-to-200 grams of protein each day
(600 calories of protein divided by 4 = 200)

Hi! Im 16 years old, male,5 feet 9 inches and weigh about 230 pounds. I used to be of average weight in middle school but ever since high school ive gained alot of weight. Its really embarressed talking about my weight and its embarressing taking my shirt off when i go swimming with friends. I try to diet all the time but i always end up giving up. Hi Adrian. I've decided to try this 50lbs in 5 months diet. I'm really excited about it, and I pretty much everything mapped out. I allready have HipHop Abs, so I'm going to be using that for a while in the mornings (until the first 5-10 lbs).
Anyway, I have a young daughter, and I work ALOT. I was wondering if low calorie frozen dinners or lunches would be OK to have once in a while. Like weight watchers, or lean cuisine??? Just trying to see what my options are.

I gave birth in January and have since went down to 190 lbs at nearly 5'9. I've been doing the South Beach Diet and it's been working well for me but not as fast as I would like.
I would like to be around 165 around Christmas time, so that's about 25 lbs in about 3 months.
Is this do-able or am I dreaming? How can I achieve this?

Hi I'm Ahrion. I'm having trouble losing weight. I'm 17yr. old Male, 5'5, and I weigh around 185. I work out doing resistance training with the normal rep/sets (10 reps 3 sets) at least 5-6 days a week. I've been doing normal bench, militarys (front and back), curls, push ups, and a few others I don't know the name of. I have just increased the amount of weight I've been doing by 10 lbs on each side. I have just started doing bicycle crunches and normal crunches (prior I was doing sit ups).
I run at least 6 times a week (slight slope going up) for about 50 min usually around 5p.m. (I can't in the morning; I live in the desert so it gets cool around that time) doing an endurance type run (not very very fast, but not slow), and I always finish off with a 40 yd. sprint. I just started running (for about 3-4 weeks now), but I have been working out for about a year or so (not raising the amount of weight until recently).
I eat pretty good. I no longer eat deserts, candies, frozen/processed foods, sugary foods, drink soda, fruit juices, or any other food/drink product that is unnessasary, fatty, or just bad (for about 3-4 weeks now). I drink protein shakes with 1 serving of Premium Whey Protein with 1 1/2 serving of skim milk, and 1 medium-large size banana usually after I get back from my run (once a day only). My diet contains low fatty foods. I eat fruits and vegetables, skinless chicken (haven't eat beef in a while), 2 bananas almost every day (1 with the shake), and I eat rice. I eat an everything bagel in the brunchish time. I try not to use vegetable/olive oil when I cook. I usually use light margerin, very little amounts. In the morning I eat High Fiber bran cereal with skim milk, and 2 pieces of toast with a little light margerin. I eat my salads with no dressing (light dressing on occasion).
I don't know if I'm not giving it enough time or what, but I don't think I have lost any weight at all. I can say that I have gained muscle, but it seems that the fat still remains. Based on what I do/eat (see above), you would think I would be loosing weight rapidly. This is not the case. I use to be 225, but lost it from eating less (but my activity level wasn't high).
If anyone has any answers/questions to why it seems like I'm not loosing fat, please shoot me a reply/email.

Hi. I'm a 39 y/o single mom with a fed govt desk job. I'm at a computer 8-10 hrs a day and then at home I have to cook, help with homework, blah, blah, blah. By the time I do what I have to do, I'm exhausted. Where do I get the energy or the time to exercise? Or the time to make all these "mini meals" I hear so much about. It's all I can do to make two meals a day. Another issue is making food at home. It's hard making something that is less calories that my daughter will eat too (she's 11, tall for her age, and super skinny and very active).
Another issue I have with many of the exercises is flexiblity... I can't even touch my toes... and never could. My daughter can't touch hers either... despite how tall and skinny she is. It's like I have joints that are welded together that won't allow me to bend much. I've also had issues where at the end of the day, my feet and legs feel heavy and hurt.
How can I approach the diet and exercise problems I'm having? I am 160 and 5' 5" tall. I want to get to about 130 and back into the size 6's I used to wear and refuse to give away.

You should really check to see how many calories you're eating because basically...
The only way you can gain weight is if you EAT TOO MUCH WHile being inactive and...
If you gained weight while being active then all that means is your body got used to the same activity or routine you did and burned less and less calories

around this time last year i weighed about 130 (I am 5'6") and now I am 160...my diet hasn't really changed, but I think I exercise more now then what I did last year. What happened? I eat junk sometimes, but I am pretty active. The last month or so I have been more active than I've ever been and probably have eaten the healthiest and it seems I gained even more weight. What can I do??? I'd like to get back to at least 130.

Now on to me :D Im 27, 5'5 & around 75kgs, ive done dieting both the healthy (zone diet + moderate exercise) & unhealthy way- cracker diet, bangkok pills, tall espresso for breakfast so no appetite for the day.
People tell me even if im big, im proportioned. But hardest to slim down are my arms (slim is the term that i want )
Now, I eat 3 meals a day (some days healthy-veggies,fruits & lean meat & some days-take out food) w/some unhealthy bingeing on the wkends.
So now I really am at a loss of what to do. I want to lose 30-40lbs by the end of Nov (at least 10-13lbs per mo.) I want to start an eating habit that's normal. Im actually scared of strict healthy eating bec i may not be able to stick w/it.
Im also worried that the big 30 is only 3yrs away & from what ive heard that's when the metabolism of a person plummets :S
I want to be prepared for that.
I have the complete hiphop abs dvd & a pair of 2kg dumbells w/me.
I need your expert help.

I bought a membership at the local gym and starting biking a week ago (usually 45 min. a day).
The gym also has a pool, so I started swimming after biking (8 lenghts of the pool), which actually seemed to be a harder workout than the 45 min of biking, and I enjoy it.
However, I just read that swimming is not good for weight loss as it decreases your body temperature. See:

Should I cut swimming out altogether or move it to before I bike (that way my temperature is still high after the workout and not cooler from swimming). Also, is it true that swimming won't do much for helping me form up my upper body? (I also plan to start some weight training for that). Looking to lose 50 pounds.

How tall are you? If you weigh 185 pounds and don't LOOK overweight then chances are that your body fat % is in the normal range and you don't need to worry about losing weight but if not...
This is the quickest way to lose 20 pounds before school and...

You can count the baby carrot as a raw veggie but it'll be better if you ate regular sized fruits & veggies that aren't too big or too small and...
If you lost 20 lbs - all of it usually isn't water - It's a combination of FAT with some water & very little muscle and...

So I switched the plan up a little bit to the calories I needed a day but I am only gonna lose 15 pounds. And I have rented some videos from the library and it's a great free way to do it. So far your plan of exercises has really worked!! I just started a week ago and already lost 4 pounds. =)
I am also doing tae-bo (haha for kids) And I have gotten a workout from that. This program is great! I love it! And I am 14 years old btw.....

Teresa, 20-years-old... coffe is not calorized(is that a word?) unless you drink it with tons of sugar. And don't drink it black, that makes it harder to lose because your body is stressed from all the bitterness. I'm only 11 but I am studying all this.

Hey. I'm 11 and around 130-140 pound... that's not normal. Can anyone help me how to lose atleast 25 pounds? I hate swimming because my butt is big and my stomach has jelly rolls. I have a double chin and Jello-O on the go with my legs. I'm lactose- intolerant and I don't like soy milk very much. Yogurt is gross and cheese is not good by itself. PLEASE HELP ME

Just 6 months ago I was at 117lbs.. now gained 35lbs in just over 3 months from stress and getting hurt at work.. I need so badly to lose this extra weight.. I am 5'3" non smoker but I cant breath like i have been smoking for years... I walk and use my tread mill. I hold in my stomach but all that seems not to work. I dont eat very much, and when I do eat I watch what I eat and it looks like I eat a pig.. HELP ME PLEASE!!!!

Hey, right now I'm 16, I weigh 245 pounds and I'm 5 ft 11 in tall. I am wanting to drop 50 pounds by the end of summer or close to it around the end of August. You said something about cutting down tree is a good way to lose weight. Right now I gotta clear out about 200 yards of trees and brush with a 15 pound axe. My question is do you have any way to calculate the amount of calories that I'm burning? It should take me about a week or so to clear it all out. About how much weight should I lose by doing that?

I'd just like to thank you for the motivation to start exercising again. I added your workouts (3-4 days a week) and diet recommendations to my yoga regiment and have lost 7 and 3/4 inches off my body since the 8th of June. I've lost an inch and a half of my back chub in 2 weeks! I haven't seen any weight loss, but the muscle speaks for itself.
It's amazing what a food journal and an hour a day can do for a girl.

Im starting this thing called everclense cleansing ever heard of it??? i dont know if it works but i figured id try, but i walk every other day with my baby and the days i dont walk i try to get to the gym and do cardio with my heart rate around 160 for 40 mins. I try to eat right and mosty eat fat free milk, egg whites, alot of water, ceral and salad. every once ina whie ill cheat and eat a couple chiken nuggets. but my bad thing i do is drink coffee is coffee very bad for me? it seems that i need it for the lack of sleep i get. its the only thing that keeps me up
my problem is it feels that every time i loose a couple pounds it comes back in a couple days and i actually gain even more. earlier this week i was 219! could i just be weighing my self too much? i need to loose weight to be more healthier and help my self confidence!

You can lose 50 pounds just by dieting alone or eating less - it'll just take longer than 5-to-8 months but i don't recommend it so...
YES.. you can definitely still lose 50 pounds by only exercising once - you just won't lose as fast if you exercised twice a day and here's one more tip for you...
You can exercise smarter by doing a higher itensity workout that'll take less time and burn more calories than someone who workouts twice a day.

i'm 5'8 and weigh 283 lbs. my ideal weight is about 160-170 lbs. however, i know it will be a long process.
i have been doing some aerobics and cardio like (debbie siebers slim in 6). i've started a month ago. my problem isn't my exercise but whether eating habits. i need a schedule in when to eat and what i can do to kick my metabolism. i tried doing weight watchers and honestly i can't keep up writing down everything down and keeping track on those points. that is another problem of mine.

In your case - keep your same meal schedule but add another meal around 6-to-7 pm so...
Instead of 5 meals - you'll eat 4 meals but what you're going to do is...
You're going to divide your total calories by 4 meals instead of 5 - You'll just have to do this until you get out of school but don't worry...
The weight loss plan will still work - eating 5 meals is better than 4 since it keeps you from not overeating & gaining weight

hi.i just noticed that my diet loss program that i got from the "lose 50 lbs in 5-8 months" calculator said that i should have 5 *****-***** calorie meals every 3hrs.the problem is that since i am still in school,i cant eat during school hours.i normally have breakfast at about 6:30am, then it i have lunchbreak at school from 11:15 till 11:45am.after that, i reach home at about 2:15 and have a meal at 2:30.if you could just tell me how i can fit in my meals during these times, it'll be great!

ok, im 14 im in school, im 5'5 and i weigh 174, i currently do tae bo about 4 times a week and i have gym in the morning on mondays.
could you help me do something to lose weight because im in school and cant really excercise in the morning unless i change the time i go to bed and the time i wake up, also, for breakfast i usually have a butter roll with a juice which has like 24 g of sugar

Although is true that some fruits (like fruit juices, dates, and canned fruits) may make your blood sugar rise - you don't have to worry about that IF... you eat your fruits along with water, protein and healthy fats and if you're worried about fruits raising your blood sugar then...
Fruits like apples, organges, sherries, grapefruits, pears, plum banana, cantaloupe, mango, papaya and pineapple all have lower GI (Glycemic index) levels meaning they won't cause your blood sugar to rise as if you ate a large snickers bar so basically...
If you're following a basic weight loss plan and eating right - you shouldn't have to worry about the fruits you eat because fruits contain fiber which makes your body burn a lot of calories digesting making you have less of an appetite

You can still do this 50 pound weight loss plan and detox at the same time basically by eating all the right weight loss foods so basically...
If you drink at least 2 liters of water while eating a normal amount of fruits and veggies you'll detox so NO...
It's no need to detox first - you can detox and lose weight at the same time and...
This isn't a Yo-yo diet - after you've lost 50 pounds on this plan - Just eat a normal amount of calories to maintain your weight and/or just eat mainly weight loss foods to maintain your weight and as far as getting back in shape...

Thanks for the great information. My question is about green tea. I drink ready-made diet green tea by Lipton in the plastic 20 oz. bottle. Is this as effective as brewing it myself and drinking it straight with nothing added?
I want to maximize my fat loss so I'll drink green tea however I need to; it's just not so good when I brew it myself and drink it with nothing in it.

Ellipticals are a great way to go for losing weight. They are low impact making it easier to do them day in and day out, also they seem to burn more calories than running. Start going about half an hour moderate to high intensity and then gradually increase your time to an hour. I've lost 55 lbs in the last year doing this. Also, you don't have to "diet" to lose weight just eat what your suppose to. Keep track of your calories and don't eat over 2000 per day. Also, a good strength training program 3 days a week helps to. Hope this helps some people.

I went thru the same thing when I was in college and gained about 15 pounds over a year but I realized to lose that excess weight...
I had to eat different foods - I didn't really worry about eating 5 meals a day but basically... I ate these weight loss foods and YES... 3 heads of RAW brocclli will help!

Either way is fine (In my opinion I would do the muscle gain/burn fat routines) but... You may end up not losing 35 pounds but YOU lower your body fat percentage a lot plus build (gain) muscle weight so...
If you want to lose 35 pounds of FAT only so the scale will say 170 pounds - the best exercise method would be doing cardio twice a day like...
Maybe 1 interval workout in the morning and a regular cardio workout like walking or running in the evening
With your busy lifestyle - don't worry too much about eating 5 meals (eating 5 small meals keeps you satisfied longer so you won't overeat and gain weight but... the weight loss foods I showed you like fruits and veggies will make you not feel hungry for long periods of time) and...
YOU DO want to worry about how many calories you're eating so if I were you... Use the weight loss calculator on this page and select lightly active or lazy for your lifestyle and eat those recommened number of calories until you lose 35 pounds.

205lbs 6'0" 20yr/old male.
I'm fairly unhealthy as far as exercising (four times a month) and maintaining a healthy diet goes, but i'm still 'in shape' enough to run five miles with my girlfriend, or take the bike out for a 20 mile ride whenever.
Over the past year and a half, i've steadily gained 30 pounds through bad diets (dining halls), and infrequent exercising. At this rate, i'm growing fairly concerned as i know my metabolism is going to change fairly soon, and in 10 years i could be easily pushing chris farley if things don't change now.
I'm not looking to really go down to 150 pounds, because i've a pretty naturally wide frame and muscular build, but moreso the 170 range with a toned body.
What would be the most effective adaption to my lifestyle that i could make to where i can reach my goal and maintain my health for life? Do i still need to eat five meals a day every three hours? With my schedule, i don't have the luxury of that all the time, and no refrigeration means whatever i eat needs to stay in the car, and a lot of the time i don't food prep, and i face the choice of not eating at all, or fast food.
Exercise is obvious, but as far as routines go, am i apt to loose quicker doing grow muscle/burn fat routines, or can i stick to a cardio based program with ocassional weight training to fuel fat loss and tone?
Whatever advise can help will be greatly appreciated.
I'm just fighting two extremes here, i'm not morbidly obese, nor do i really eat or exercise well. What can i change to drop 35 pounds and keep it off, without eating 3 heads of broccoli a day?

1. take a fat burner (like green tea) while on a diet & exercise program or...
2. exercise more intensly and/or longer
The main thing YOU DO NOT want to do to lose weight permanentlty is to drastically cut your calories which will lower your metabolism causing you to gain back all the weight you lost
