I've been weight training and lifting weights about 6 hours a week (an hour a day with one day off) for a few months now, I also only consume lean turkey on 60 cal. rye/wheat bread with mustard, water, protein shakes, fat free yogurt 2 a day max, cereal (if in a rush) but usually egg beaters w/ a splash of fat free milk for scrambled eggs and two slices of turkey bacon. Tuna fish with bno mayo whatsoever. I have a body fat according to the us navy measurment system of 31% and it's been like this for almost a year, I've actually gained weight... what do I do?! I can't exercise anymore without not having a life and I can't stand eating turkey and tuna every day anymore.

Hi i weigh about 150 or so pounds. I am 5'5''. I am only 22 but I have been around this weight since the end of middle school. I want to look good this summer but I have a condition that leads me to have no energy. In high school I had to quit all sports because I do not have the energy needed. I have a 7 month old son, he keeps me going, but still no weight loss. I try to watch my intake of food but I do not understand why I only lost 15 pounds of my baby fat. I want to be at least down to 115 pounds. I was thinking about using colon cleansers to help. I need your help!

You may not be losing weight on the scale but you are looking better which means...

You are losing ugly fat and gaining sexy muscle - Look at #12 here for why the scale won't move

Truthfully... I would just keep doing what you are doing and I wouldn't worry about about the scale and accept & be happy with the fact you are looking better and in reality...

You have lost weight (the ugly fat) but you also gained weight (sexy muscle) making you look slimmer but if you really must see the scale move down...

Let me thank you for such a prompt reply. Appreciate the way you help people like me.

I run on the treadmill at 6.5mph. At times I try to increase the speed .The diet is not always a 1500cal. Sometimes it can go upto 1800cal. But I can see significant changes in the waist and hip measurements but no weight loss and sometimes I see a gain of 1kg also.
I do my exercise at various intervals .Its usually in 3-4 sessions that I complete a 9mile target.Of couse I do take a break in a week.
Its been 2 months now since I started observing the calorie intake.As mentioned earlier my body measurements are improving,the thighs have become really thin and I look a lot different in shape .

I have been doing excercise on a regular basis. On an average I run around 7 miles a day. Ok, I am 49 years old, and weigh 338lbs,. I am female, and am 6 foot. Here is the problem. I am serious about losing this weight. I started the first week of January. I ate between 1500 and 1700 calories a day. I did one half hour of cardio 6 days a week and did strength training 3 days a week. I lost 10 pds. My first month. In February, I increased my cardio to one hour a day 5-6 days a week. I did the treadmill at 3.5 with an incline of 4 and the stationary bike at fat burning, at resistance 14. I did each cardio for a half an hour each. I gained two pounds at the end of February. I only weigh once a month. I am so frustrated- what the heck am I doing wrong- The weight should be falling off me. Any suggestions?

Oh, I forgot, I was treading water 2 hours a week too-

I have been doing 30 minutes of eliptical cardio. I'm 200 pounds and 5'6". Along with that I have been doing to some light weight training for 30 minutes. This is 5 times a week in a gym. I'm trying to lose about 15 to 20 pounds in a two months or so. I've been doing this for about two weeks but haven't seen a single pounds lost. I've been little more active since started working out but I wanna' see these pounds being shed off. Any help?

IMPORTANT: Pick the activity level you was at before you decided to lose weight and stick with that amount of calories so for example...

If you were lazy before trying to lose weight - pick lazy option and use those calories until you reach your weight loss goal and...

Instead of increasing calories to deal with extra activity...

You should increase your carbs or percentage of carbs you eat FIRST for energy for workouts and then...

You may increase you total calorie intake if needed to deal with extra activity

I am going to start using your weight loss calculator. I was just wondering, should I keep switching up my calories on weeks I might not be active, so I can still lose weight?

For example, my first week I am not going to be extremly active. So I got the calorie reccomendations for that option. Then next week I plan to step it up a notch. Should I change the activity level and eat the reccomended calories for that? And if I fall off one week (I don't know why I will) but still, should I make sure i'm eating the right amount of calories for whatever my activey level will be that week?

I hope that eventually I can come up with a routine that I can stick to.

#2) How many calories are you eating? - are you counting calories correctly? -Remember - weight loss is mainly about burning calories so also...
The exact count I do not know. I did do the calculator with correct age and gender.
Now I eat Cheerios/soy milk for breakfast, an apple 2 hrs later, a toasted bagel peanut butter sandwich for lunch. 2 hrs later, another fruit. A regular dinner. After my 30-minute walk, one glass of whey protein (water/powder). Before bed, a small bottle of grape juice. Doc here says too many carbs in my "new" diet.

#3) did you do the weight loss calcualtor correctly? did you pick your right activity level, gender?
Yes, male, 50, 195#. I walk 30 minutes every day, a little over a mile.

I started the program with the weight loss calculator. I started at 190#. Before, I'd eat a bowl of Cheerios & soy milk for breakfast, skip lunch and eat a regular dinner, all while drinking a half-gallon of water a day. I wondered why I couldn't weigh less than 190. Now, along with kashi and soy milk for breakfast, I eat an apple and granola bars at my first break at work, a peanut butter bagel sandwich at lunch, another apple or pear at my second break and a regular dinner. On top of all this, I drink one whey protein shake (water & whey protein) after my 30-minute walk. I have actually gained five pounds! I'd like to know why I gained instead of lost weight.

I'm 21 years old and over the past two years I have gained over 25 lbs due to poor eating and inactivity. I've never been overweight before, so when I got to my all-time high of 158 lbs and could no longer fit into any of my clothes, I knew I had to do something. I began exercising (a mix of cardio and strength training) for about 2 hrs a day, six days a week and began eating healthy foods (around 1200 calories a day). After 3 months I hadn't lost a single pound or inch. Since then I've tried every combination of calorie and exercise amount with no luck. Currently I eat around 800 to 1200 calories a day (only lean proteins, vegetables, and limited carbs). I still exercise the same as before but only 3-5 times a week, and I still haven't lost a pound. I just don't understand because I'm following the simple logic of eating 500 calories less a day plus good diet and exercise, but it seems no matter what I do I don't lose any weight. Please help me, I would love to get back to the size 4, 130 lbs I was three years ago.

Remember- diet pills are only "weight loss supplements" that give a little extra weight loss boost when combined with diet & exercise and usually the only people who need diet pills or fat burners are people who are at a low weight or not overweight who have a harder time losing weight so basically...

Overweight people don't need fat burners because weight loss is easier and non overweight poeple need the extra help from diet pills since weight loss is harder for them and...

Hello, great site.

The program calculates to eat (5) 240 - 340 calorie meals a day, and consume no more than 1700 calories a day. My question is about the whey protein shake. I plan to get this and drink 1-2 shakes a day.

Will I drink these in addition to the above calories, or do I need to subtract the shake from the calorie "allowance"? Will this be in addition to the (5) meals a day, or should it replace a meal?

If you are not overweight (which I suspect you are) - You need to look at ways to lose your last 10 pounds

For my weight loss calculator - I would just pick the moderate level of activity (even though your activty level is higher) so you'll lose more weight faster and when you reach your weight loss goal you can refigure your activity level again

I need some guidance. I am 5'6, 185lbs. and have been trying your quick weight loss plan for almost 5 weeks now. I have lost 13 pounds. My problem is that I would really like to see at least a 1.5lb drop each week, and my weight loss looks like it's really slowing down. I don't know why.

I have been consistent with the protein, fruits, and staying in the top tiers of Michi's Ladder for meals (fish, chicken, and greens). I am working out 6 days/wk, 1 20-30 minute session in the morning, 1 30-60 minute session in the evening, and sometimes a 30 minute power walk during the day. I mix my workouts up so I don't get bored, but I do do 2 days of toning with weights. I have a watch that calculates target heart rate, and calories burned, which appear to be a lot. I use weight-calculator.com to journal entry everything I eat, and what I burn during my workouts. What confuses me is trying to figure out how many calories I need to eat to get the loss I am after each week. Your calculator says roughly 1600-2100 calories for my weight. Weight calculator.com says 1590 recommended caloric level. Then when I am trying to figure out how many calories I need, based on my activity level, I get a little stumped because I am not sure what category I should put myself. Every one of the weight calculators I'v tried seem to say something different.

Can you tell I am confused? I am trying to lose 50 lbs.,and I have a target date of 10/1/08 to get the job done. I would like to see a 6-8lb loss per month. Oh yes, and I do take a supplement, an over the counter I found success with before. The fat burners don't seem to really do anything for me.

What would you advise?

To lose FAT and keep it off - you have to aim for 1-3 pounds a week and the only way can realistically reach 3 pounds or more a week is if you exercise and/or take fat burners so...
