oh, they broke up?! sad to hear that. at least I'm glad I've seen them live, in Seoul and Tokyo......

Gravatar Wonyul, Yes, they broke up. You saw some of their best shows.

Gravatar I used to share an apartment with Mike's girlfriend Miwa. She called him "Keyboard Mike," because there was another Mike among their circle of friends. The other Mike was "Guitar Mike."

Gravatar Hi Martin, thanks for your comment. Guitar Mike and Keyboard Mike! That's cute. I know Guitar Mike.

Gravatar Hey Ken,

I wonder if you'd be so kind as to answer a couple of questions for me.

I remember you writing about a band that played in a basement venue, but that you thought would be better suited to an outdoor, festival-like ambience. I searched around on the blog butu drew a blank. Any chance you could tell me who they are?

Also, I know it's not really your thing, but do you know of any good underground Japanese instrumental/folktronica acts in the vein of Shugo Tokumaru?

Gravatar Hi Martin, I had to look that one up (I've written about 250 posts and don't remember everything I've written!): I was talking about Shugo Tokumaru and the Tenniscoats.

You might want to check out the Tennicoats if you like Tokumaru. Other than that...two groups that play instrumental music, though more jazz fusion than folk, that I've found interesting are TOE and TEGWON. I also think you might like On Button Down and Travelling Panda.

Gravatar Oh my God, I just listening to them and it's GREAAATTTTTT!!!!
especially bogus illusion.

to bad they've break up!!
noooooo.
